the prem and la liga probably are though especially with athletico coming through.
la liga > prem > bundesliga

juve napoli and roma are quality though and imo are underperforming in europe. really, european football's in rude health at the moment I feel.

erm not sure what your talking about hubb lol

im just saying that when it comes to punching order of competitions, serie a, bundesliga dont come close to the champions league or the prem. at the moment its more impressive to with the champions league prem and maybe la liga than it is to win serie a or the bundesliga. bayer munich winning the bundesliga just isnt that impressive when you consider how poor the competition is. same with juventus in serie a. this is partly shown by the amount both teams have such a big points gap over opponents (although not the only factor. sometimes there is a massive points margin just because the top team is nang)
im basing this on the quality of the teams you compete against and have to play not on the results of german teams against spanish teams etc.

really?
outside the top 4 or 5 la liga is pretty dreadful
i mean the top 10 teams in england are definitely better than the top 10 spanish teams dont you think?

I understand your point but it is completely wrong. IMO

You just can't judge the competition that way.

But if we did anyway then how highly would you rate someone like dortmund or roma if they where put in the prem just as a thought experiment?
bayern munich winning the bundesliga just isnt that impressive when you consider how poor the competition is.

It's Bayern that have been that much better than before, even freakishly so, but Dortmund was still in the cl final and almost managed it with a shit load of injuries this season. Gladbach is a serious team and so is Schalke and Leverkusen, so it's not the tournament you are judging but Bayerns excellence seperately.

The reverse can be said for la liga though, where the top teams raise the leagues standard so to speak.

Newcastle are generally one of the top 20 biggest clubs in the world
for consistency of quality throughout the top flight, Prem is a fair way ahead of la liga imo. Whether Barca/ Real do enough to counter that or not is questionable
close run thing either way

they're two of the top teams in their respective countries so its a bit different
im trying to suggest that the quality of the shitter teams in the prem is better than the shitter teams in the other leagues so the competition is far more challenging and difficult to win
also im suggesting that the quality of the top half is better, im not suggesting that the top 2,3, or 4 are though

dortmund, this season would be challenging for the title with the current english top 4, roma battling for europa with the yids, everton, southampton, utd
thats in my opinion though and isnt really that relevant and far more debatable than what ive said in the first para

then i almost agree

but this season in the prem has been so different in that the top four has been like a top 8 or something

this is also my opinion and very debatable but my point is shown further when you have top players coming from italy, spain, germany that just dont cut it in the pl nearly as much as they do abroad

liverpool have just replace utd but i think a lot of liverpools success in the league has come from not many cup games, no european games and freakish luck with injury.
not that they are a bad team though

That doesn't suggest a higher level in the prem to me at all. Because a lot of those players go right back in the starting 11 on teams that have as much succes or maybe if we argue from a british pov - are better suited for european comps for example.

Someone like Osvaldo just fits right back in when he turned home. And he gets called up to the worldcup squad ahead of really good players like Immobile.

Veron or Berbatov is another example. Imo Berbatov would have been a worldclass player his entire carreer had he played in Italy.
The prem is very specific in what is demanded but it's not better.
Messi who's without a doubt the best player ever might fall through in the prem.

Maybe I will give you that, but Everton could've been and arsenal and spurs have underperformed when you consider the players in their squads but ok, statistically someone is bound to underperform.

why doesnt that indicate a better quality league, where less fit strong players cant cope with the pace/intensity?

or would you say that its a question of specifics and that in europe the style of play has greater influence on technique rather than physicality and players more suited to the premiership wouldnt do so well in europe?

those were the sort of players i had in mind when i wrote that post

How can there be a massive gap between the top 4 and the next 4 if Liverpool are merely not bad and finished 2nd. If Liverpool are much better than the teams that finished 4th - 8th then why do we think the teams 4-8 are much better than their Spanish counterparts?
