There has to be some out there that has entered creative commons or some way it's become a legal rip. Looking for some really battered sounding rips that I can chop up and throw in a track.
Can anyone help? Legal options only please....

I was having a discussion with my wife about this the other day, and she says that any (most?) music made before 1976(?) does not fall under copyright laws. We found this out because a bunch of labels are trying to sue her company (with no success) for royalties.
I'll have to ask her more about it, but I think it would be worth looking into.
Go sample some old Motown. You'll be fine!

the time farm of falling out of copyright was 50 years (so 1964 I guess) however a lot of big names weren't happy about it so it got extended to 70 years.
Think motown is gonna be the way forward, either that or a nice bitts Jazz

At one point I a had a boatload of ANCIENT acetate country, blue grass, gospel records from my grandparents. Most were pretty unplayable. No jokes I literally had something like 75 pounds of acetate records (I weighed them because I am fucking dork like that).
Most of them are gone, but I think I have a stack of them kicking around somewhere. If so I am almost positive if they aren't legal that know one would complain...will check it out for you Outbound.

Im pretty sure none of this falls under what your looking for, but i figured id throw it out there anyway. I mostly just wanted to see if i could get my turntable working (and teach myself how to solder in the process).
I know i do have some old, funky stuff around here somewhere. If i get the chance ill dig it out and sample it up for you.
