Lol you've made that sound much easier than it is. You've probably gotta remember what loads of people have said and what they meant ect and if you have an opinion on something you're likely going to have to learn in great detail opposition points of view which I assume can get irritating, if you think their view is a load of bollocks.

Exams are suppose to test your knowledge of whats been taught, you aren't suppose to necessarily produce your own opinions. If they've told you they don't revise and just watch the news they're very likely talking bollocks

those are two separate issues. which kinda proves my point
you're talking about active discrimination - the cake shop refuse to serve gay customers
i was talking about perceived discrimination. to go on with your cake shop example, say you're a vegan and want a cake. you go in the first cake shop you stumble upon and they say "sorry we don't serve vegan products". you can't say the shop is discriminating against vegans, they just don't serve those type of products, for whatever reason. if you feel offended by that and feel the need to throw a fit, it's your deal, not theirs to adjust their business to everybody's wants.

But that's a special request - Who in their right mind gets bunched up about that?

That's not discrimination - That's just a request that fall outside of their scope.

Actively disbaring a person because of extraneous considerations…
Is not - failing to have a specialized recipe as part of your repertoire.

...extraneous cake

That's the next genre right there….

That looks like straight up murder/manslaughter . The officers were in no immediate danger therefore the shooting cannot be justified. In the UK, there is the rule that every shot must be justified and also the force must not be excessive (for self defence) . Even if they did have to shot him for what ever danger i cannot see, shoot him in the leg for fuck sake - he'll live.

It is a daily occurrence here. I have no trust in anything the state does, or has to say about my welfare. I determine for myself what is healthy. The state recommends a diet high in lead, I will stick to organic meats, fruits and vegetables.

Without the right to discriminate you have nothing. It's no different from the right to voluntary association.
But your application of the principle 'don't initiate force against other.' is universal.

The core tenet of your worldview is non discriminatory. This seems to me to be a good thing being of the opinion that universalisability a strength. So it may be correct to argue that not all discrimination is a bad thing some discrimination is.

My secret's soup.

Want that guiltfree night snack ? Soup.

Got that hangover soft poo and need fibers ? Soup.

Wanna impress your coworkers, show them you take care of your body and look down on them for eating takeout pizza hut every lunch ? Soup.

Boil vegetables + few potatoes > Mix > You got your new best friend.

Ppl who say soup is for kids are missing out BIG TIME

PS I know the thread was derailed into an academic discussion on the role of the state in private affairs but I needed to tell dsf how much I love soup. Actually I'm eating handmade green soup right now, after coming back from the gym and it's one of the best feelings in the world

Right, yes. Discriminate all you want (which can morally agreeable or disagreeable; I won't agree with someone who discriminates based on gender, race or sexuality, but I won't force my preference on them), just don't involve the innitiation of force in anything that you do, including discrimination.

Same here.

I'v never studied politics formally either, I just happen to live in society.
pretty much this. I just read political literature + philosophy and form my own opinions.

I've read a lot of books on the matter too, but most of them were pompous essays that trashed whatever ideologies were prevalent at the time and didn't bring anything concrete to the table.

It would seem many of those so-called political philosophers don't have any idea that lives up to their ideals.

If you have any recommendations though, I'm open to anything (no extremism)
