Ninja DJ Minimix #5 - Voting Thread

Went for Wolf & Esfandyar in the end, but literally had to flip a coin in a 4-way play off between Wolf, Esfandyar, Diego and Ultra. All so sick!

Some thoughts:

Exfox: Sick mix, but taking liberty with 12 and a half minutes. Cost you points!

Harkat: Mix was sick, but not dystopic enough imo.

Rayman: Best mix you've done so far, but again, not dystopic enough for me.

Gene: That Velvet Cacoon b2b Godspeed! intro was amazing. Big up.

Ultra is still king of techno.

Wolf, can we have a tracklist for yours? Wouldn't mind trying to track down some of those cassettes.

Yeah alright. The last three tracks aren't off tapes and the rest probably aren't easy to find any more (at a guess just cause there aren't many copies)

in the end i went for exfox and gene. but, overall i think exfox's was the best. really a interesting mix in such a short duration of time, loved those beeps in the beginning, reminded me of some orson wells reading war of the worlds over the air kind of thing. took me to a different place!

gene's blend was dark and fucked, period. loved it.

i loved a lot of them to be honest, wolf, yours was a very very close margin short of genes but it was still really tough. made it even better to know you made the effort to make that with tapes.

I just got back from a day of helping a friend move and tomorrow I'm having a day of Neutral Milk Hotel b2b Paradox/0=0 at a dnb allnighter. So believe me when I say, I'ma listen to all of these ASAP, but it may not be until Sunday (but I hope I can do this tomorrow).

It was a tough call. I listened to them all beginning to end and I went with esfandyar and exfox.

I judged based on adherence to the theme and overal mix quality and I think both were at the top. I liked the nice variety of tunes in both as well.

This was srsly hard for me to pick, though. I was gonna post shouts to some of the other mixes, but I really would've given them all shouts. I think the tune selection was quality through-out and some tunes weaved into the theme in very unexpected ways (the Lukid track in dfaultuzr's mix, 'Come On Feet' in Jizzman's, etc).

But yeah, great job from the lot of you. I really enjoyed hearing all the different interpretations of the theme.
