What behaviour/habits do you have that are slightly OCDish?

Post by wub » Thu May 29, 2014 12:06 pm

I cannot leave a dirty kitchen overnight. Even if it's gone 1am on a weeknight, I have to wash the dishes and wipe down the work surfaces. The idea of coming down in the morning to dirty plates/surfaces is fucking disgusting.

I have a thing about circles, if I spin round on the spot I have to turn back in the opposite direction to even it out otherwise it really winds me up...

I have to wash my hands, alot. Whenever i got out "the outside world", the first thing i do when i open the door to my house is wash my hands so thus not to contaminate my house with my dirty hands. I'll wash my hands before i eat, (ovbs) before showering, touching the floor, after clean/dusting etc. Too conscious about batricia.

Just for the the record - i don't have a fear of germs, we live it, breath it etc. We are the host, which without they would die and so would we. I take 2x 10billon probiotic daily - clearly that's a good deal of good flora batrica - i'm just not fond of the bad ones tho.

Semi normal

Silly question, but why do you wash your hands before you shower.

I would normally have cleaned something up before taking a shower, because one should do dirty work and then shower. Might have hoover, washing, shoes etc so i don't want to be rubbing shit all over my body. Abit crazy i know.

When we rely too much on the subconscious, like when you're stressed out, that's when these tendencies can come about.

I have to have my keys and my phone in my right pocket, and my cigarettes & lighter in my left. Change/cash in my back pockets. Plectrums in the johnny pocket, and I always buy jackets with an inside pocket for my wallet. I never leave the house without some kind of jacket, and if it's really hot I make sure I have shorts with lots of pockets.

My short pocket system is entirely different.

Also have this habit of pronouncing stuff phonetically, which drives my wife mad.

Also I spend way too much time organising Lego into colours and size....

^^ yep, I've got a rigid pocket game too.

I had to adjust it when I started getting precious about my phone's screen... that gets the left pocket to itself now and my keys have to co-exist with my wallet.

Tissues in the back pocket (spotless mind for the eternal hayfever sufferer). Smoking stuff in the left jacket pocket.

I have a ocd about washing my hands every so often. I'll also wash a cup/plate again before I use it, even though its already clean.

At school when youd walk on the sidewalk there were these waist high poles all connected with a single length of chain

Always felt extrordinarily compelled to touch the ball on the top of each pole

All about the strict pocket system, wallet in left trouser pocket, phone, lighter and keys in right trouser pocket (keys in that little pocket if wearing jeans), tobacco, papers, filters and earphones in inside jacket pocket or right trouser pocket if not wearing a jacket

Me too - I do this every night like a routine….

- sort dishes from sink - make everything go to it's place
- scoop the cat litter (I don't like the idea of my cats stumbling over turds in the half light)
- get all drying clothes and towels in and around bathroom in order
- rinse off in shower, brush teeth, evening face care routine - toning lotion etc.
- I watch my girl cat Barca massage her minke pod for about 20 minutes before she curls in
- then I read or watch film or read my phone or a combination of the 3…

I usually stop reading when I drop the book onto my face.

I have a magnetic monster page marker…I'm trying not to dog ear.

The entire thing is subject to change - I'm organized but not rigid.

for instance…If I've taken a shower late in the day….
I might not rinse off…I'll go straight to bed thinking I'll read some -
then get up and brush teeth - do face…but then I'll just fall asleep
and wake up with really knarly bad breath.
I do that sometimes - some weeks more than others.

I don't have to recite things in order - completely and perfectly - though.
Nothing obsessively ritualistic.
