It's a lot of money like but if he brings us some goals from the bench he'll be worth it, he'll also provide significantly better cover than we've had if either Sturridge or Suarez are injured/suspended

The cynical amongst us think we may be getting a slightly better price on Lallana as Southampton will have to give Bournemouth a smaller cut than if we paid less for Lambert and more for Lallana.

That may be a stretch.

The fact that english strikers are valued way too highly (in england) and that there's a constant pressure from inside Liverpool to appear like the most english club (in concervative terms ofcourse).

The reason they have the succes they have now, is because they kind of gave up on that for a minute and brought in an excellent coach + players that were educated abroad and far away from that notion.

No disrespect to Lambert.

It's only very recently that we've had a large number of english players, we've bought more from abroad than most till pretty recently. We're you paying attention under Houllier and Benitez? A lot of our success this year has been built around Sturridge, Sterling, Henderson and Gerrard, barely any of the foreign born players Rodgers has bought have played. Mignolet being the obvious exception and he came from an English club.

If he signs for that price it's high but if he's on a 4 year contract it comes off the books at 2.25m a year which on top of what will be a reasonable salary will be decent business. It seems like we are getting him for less though.

whats all the birmingham transfer hype gaz? reckon tempting heskey out retirement might be sick
i don't like morata tbh, i have seen him a lot of times in the sub national team and he is good scoring and doing forward job but he is not a good making the playing around him better and playing the ball like Giroud which is very important for arsenal imo

Didn't see that coming, feel kinda shit for Southampton tbh.
Wow if Liverpool actually buy him for that price. He's not "that" prolific and 31
he is very good, 9 m is quite cheap actually

Next Charlie Adam signing imo. Bad career move for Lambert too, I reckon, apart from added $$$.

Oh yeah, I rate him, just don't see him fitting with Liverpool, not sure he's worth that much, and I don't see him getting as much playing time there. Think that money (however much, £4-9m) could be spent on something better.

He's good though, so won't make your team any worse. Just not something I would do, were I Liverpool.

Edit: Just saw he's a Liverpool fan. Good for him.

Tbh after us signing Borini and Aspas for a total of 20m over the last two summers I'm delighted with Lambert at 4m plus add ons which is what the BBC are reporting.

I think we've tried to do better and failed pretty badly and given our forward line is pretty strong he may just be what we need to strengthen the bench and provide cover. I think we need a good bit more mind.

I'll admit I also like the romance of it, local boy did the rounds as a journeyman let go from his first club and ends up at the team he supports.

Still shit for Southampton it looks like they could be dismantled and that's never good to see.

Celtic showing just how seriously they'll need to take next season by willingly trying to hire the worst manager outside of Paul Ince.

No doubt a great signing for a squad player, he could have aimed a little higher though.. either hes just doing it because its a dream move and happy to be benched or hes extremely ambitious and thinks he could get a starting position in Liverpools attack.

Really, really rate Ricky sorta why I'm disappointed, think he could have done well somewhere who'd play him first team. Somewhere a bit better than the sinking ship Southampton. Shames hes scouse, could have gone Everton now all their loans have fucked off home.

Yeah, I really do not want Keane at all.

Oh well, least it'll put an end to the sectarian rubbish Lennon had to put up with...
