do you know that only 365 DSF users use Prosilver? (this is a fact from admin control panel - 365 users have set Prosilver)nowaysj wrote:Do you have a sense of why a large majority of dsf users don't use the new layout?

Layout isn't an issue though I don't think.. the two of choice is enough, how many people are unhappy with both to the point of complaining?

Re: Changes
idk about this disclosure layout thing, but if its optional then
my 2p:
Get rid of big ups in SNH
Bring back q&as with artists & more reviews/reviewers as garethoms and petes were sick
Effort definitely needs to be made to bring back music discussion on here, most music chats with people i know on here now takes place on facebook for some reason.

Re: Changes
I don't think users dislike the "DSF" layout because it's too colorful or whatever - I think they were just used to Prosilver and didn't want to bother with getting used to a new layout. That's why I'm still on Prosilver. Same reason people stuck with Subsilver whenever the change to Prosilver was made.
People saying dubstep is dead/waning........ Leave your computer and see that it isn't. I watched DMZ pack 200-300 heads in a small club in America - the land of the bro - a few months ago. Millions of people listen to dubstep (talking about real dubstep here), and I think that changing the name to something else would have a very negative impact on dubstep as a genre, because DSF is the biggest online presence for dubstep. Even if it's only the name, and not the people who change, I think it would still have a strong negative impact on dubstep because the biggest fans of dubstep are the regulars on DSF, and new dubstep heads (which there are a TON of out there in the real world - I've met many of them and that's only in my area) would not find this place as easily as if it was called "ukbassforum.com".
I agree with NWJ on lots of points. The production forum used to be awesome, but in the fall it just died. Sometimes I think there should be an "SNH Production Sub-Forum" because that would be sick, but I know many will be against it for the obvious reason of further segregation. But then again it might pull the broducers into the SNH which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think the problem with the prod forum is that everyone is afraid of being flamed for not knowing something, and long-time users feel like they shouldn't be the ones asking questions and don't want to look stupid (even though not one of us on here knows everything there is to know about production). So long-time users don't even bother with the prod forum because of the culture of flaming there (prime example "Mromgwtf," he flames everyone ffs).
I also think more active mods would help a lot. Wub is really the only mod who posts here as much as the regulars. Why not make someone else (a regular) a mod? Muncey seems like a good choice tbf - one of the few that actually listens to dubstep these days. You can tell who still listens by who posts in the rolling GD threads (Kahn, Youngsta, etc). And I think bringing back the interviews, maybe that reviews section, shit like that, stuff that integrates journalists/bloggers would do WONDERS for DSF. Interaction with the actual scene.
Also while Muncey was being facetious with "kick all the peeps who don't listen to dubstep anymore out," there's a good point to be made. Yall should start listening to dubstep again and stop being so negative about it. There's plenty of great dubstep being made right now. True, there isn't a release every day (and the 130 crew isn't releasing tunes everyday either), but there's still lots of good stuff being released right now. I feel like people just want to move on for the sake of moving on (nuum nonsense).
I make an effort to post tunes I'm feeling in the "Tune of the Day" thread for this exact reason, but no one ever responds, and that thread is clogged by music that just isn't even remotely close to dubstep tbh. Maybe we could have a "Dubstep Tune of the Day" thread for the ninjas that are having difficulty finding good dubstep? Idk just an idea.
