lol even I have to disagree with you Magma. Capitalism got lucky, there's no reason China or another non-capitalist society couldn't manage to do the same thing. It just so happened that the scientific method was developed by a white European, who relied on 're-discovered' Greek mathematics learnt from Arabs.

Remember that Chinese and Arabic tech was way ahead of Europe before they invented guns. Europe's claim to fame rests on it's use of guns to fuck everyone else over, not it's economic system... If Arabs had invented that gun technology first, which they could have since they had access to the same philosophical theory, the world would be way different!

If you support the EU as it is today then you are either ignorant to how it works or just plain anti-democracy, end of story. Now whether or not democracy is the only way of doing things is another question. I really don't see how people can support the running of many aspects of our country by people who are not from here and have likely never been here, it's completely ridiculous imo. I would put money on us being out of the EU in 10 years. The EU is, in my opinion, directly responsible for the rise of the far right in Europe. I usually like to leave the scaremongering to nwj but the way the EU is going it will end sooner rather than later in violent up rises.

People are getting angry about how a lot of decisions being made for their country are coming from a country that's not theirs and how they have next to no input on these decisions.

The 'far-right' parties are against Europe therefore people are voting for them. Also with the open borders that we currently have in Europe people are, rightly or wrongly, disagreeing with the amount of immigrants being let into their country. Unfortunately the only people who seem to be talking about these issues are the parties further to the right and so they are gaining support.

ah, alright that makes sense. But that doesnt sound like something the EU is really responsible for, that just comes down to issues that certain political parties choose to pursue.

tbh that's all i've read too but I got the The Fall and The Plague on my shelf, both of which are supposed to be good. I might start in on one of them this weekend.
