Castlevania 4 on the Super Nintendo had a beautiful soundtrack.
Also, can't beat the original Legend of Zelda.......did someone say remix?

Ya know, this reminds me... 8-bit, did you know that there is already an 8-Bit Weapon, or whatever that produces 8-bit music with an old NES controller?

If you go way back, Qix has some cool proto-tunes in it.
Also, breakout death sounds are great.

what are the chances? guess ill have to change it then
theres also 8-bit rockers which have an awesome album
i used to produce 8bit stuff thats where it came from--i too have a game boy with pitch change and a mega drive that runs midi

ohhhhhh shit, werrd up on qix. I think both aphex and squarepusher have sampled that game. probably loads of other folks have as well...
my faves are mega man 3 and donkey kong country 2.

and many more..

all the games on the c64 had bad sounds. large up the SID commodore soundchip. still use n sample mine all da time. and of course the snes... but i gotta say that dont i ......
