I feel like most people who've taken Psychedelics aren't BM.

I think he's alright tbh, atleast he doesn't stay completely skeptical about any new idea that doesn't seem strictly scientific

I read the Moral Landscape and I'm good with his idea that moral subject status be given to conscious creatures but think some of his positions are poorly thought out and not particularly well argued. He doesn't even retain the support of the other new atheists.

Funny I spotted this. Sampled the beginning of his essay for the track in my sig which i uploaded today. He has a SoundCloud called 'Exploring the Mind' where he has uploaded readings of his essays. Very good read though and beyond this I'm still hoping he will one day debate Dan Dennett on free will  (aside from the back and forth they've been having in blog posts over Dennett's review of his book on the subject).

It's be an interesting debate if only because I'd think Harris would probably perform better despite Dennett having the better arguments.

"profound changes in consciousness" are the types of phrases that put me of psychedelics. My mate took acid for years and told me nothing but hilarious stories.. nothing about these profound life changing experiences. Not that I don't doubt people have them and they can be eye opening or have moments of clarity, its just a bit of a cliche that you take some mushrooms once and turn into some hippy philosopher. Seems forced and full of shit most the time.

I've had some great ideas while steaming but I don't go round banging on about alcohol being a magic potion that unlocks a secret door to a hidden dimension of creativity.

AKA Lovely Divot

I'm really good at psychedelics…
I've never run out into traffic or needed an ambulance or anything…

The worst I've ever been is curled up in the fetal position in the bottom of a shower
- contemplating water drops with my macro vision…

I wasn't sad at all - that shit was just super clear...

Getting spooked on LSD is about the most spooked I've ever been and I hardly need psychedelics to talk shit so I don't and haven't for a long time.

Is the musical equivalent of a fart horn…

I don't care how amazing and ethereal the sound coming out your ass is…
It will never be empowering to have the Royal Badge of Excellence in Fart Hornerie.

And I'm not trying to shame anyone…
What I am saying is - stop doing violence to the most vulnerable….

It's a Blood Diamond thing…

How can you help starving people and not have them work for .06$ a day
Even though they are grateful - because they wouldn't even have that…

But yeah - acid, food of the gods.

If I took some right now I might max my credit card for a one way to Nepal.

^acknowledged

still think I'd have been better off without psychedelics
I consciously used them to "break down conditioning"
but I realize now that life does that anyway if you can stay open to reasonableness.
Psychedelics basically illustrated vacuity's disguise
so life now is trying to stay with the nice disguises.
I quite liked having an ego that thought it existed.
So what if nothing exists...that'd be the case if I knew it or not.
I live at some level of non-being & try to avoid being savage on those who have no desire to be kind.
An interesting life for sure
but... separating.
Why?
Because knowing the dissolution of everything,

into all things: we are one
which can be a joyous party of empathic transcendence

into the one thing: me, alone & talking to myself
kinda pointless

and lastly no thing: without resolution
I am not who I think I am not.

:k:

anyway, all I can do is warn
with words that model vapid thoughts

edit: now that's how you kill a thread

you are funny...That's how you kill a sound boooiii-e...

Is that why I'm sitting here - still thinking about it?

When I first started taking acid - It wasn't about profundity…
It was about stress relief/release.

and it was immensely helpful.

I still wouldn't recommend it to just anyone.

…disguised vacuity….woof

that's rough…

I already told you guys my problems with "professionalism"...

...to take acid to find a way around that boulder….I don't know.

...walking away from it…
… dissolution….

…I don't know…again.

I don't know what they want. "they"
