Its 100/1

Don't expect to win but as an outside bet I reckon 100/1 is good odds. Theres people with much better odds who are like Brazilian subs or something.. or wingers who are never gunna score. Considering the average to win golden boot is what 4 goals? I could see Bony getting 2 in those 3 opening games easy. Even if they don't qualify he could still rack up some goals.

Rooting for England and USA with a little flutter on Germany to win.
US to sweep their group. Jozy wins the golden boot

I would quite enjoy seeing the US get a spanking personally

A couple of bad passes and the German fans will be right on his case. I think he's probably one bad game away from being dropped as well

Their loss, possibly our best player of the last 2 season

I normally would, but I've got to be diplomatic towards the New World in my household these days and I've gone and picked a couple for my fantasy team.

I'm known by a lot of my friends as an honorary German because I refused to support the USA against them (or anyone) in 2002 due to their national apathy towards the game as a whole. They seem to take their sahkaw a bit more seriously these days though.

Apart from Portugal on general English principle, I haven't got any really clear dislikes in the tournament I don't think. Netherlands can probably fuck off and Italy are always easy to hate.

Ok i get what you're saying, still tho, its imo the weakest team from that group.
Also its (according to wikipedia) 52 years since the winner of the Golden boot scored only 4 goals.

Netherlands seem to be incapable of getting through tournaments without fighting amongst themselves like school kids. I don't think I could ever bring myself to support either a Portugal or Argentina team and Spain wind me up every time I watch them

Oleg Salenko in 1994 is the only player to have won the Golden Boot playing for a team who were eliminated in the group stages.

Must be countless who were 1 goal off who didn't get passed the group stages though. Plus I think they'll qualify but my point was it isn't particularly necessary to go all the way or reach the final to be in with a shout for golden boot. Picking a prolific goal scorer from a shitter team >> picking some random guy from some of the favourites.

Yeah i agree on that. Just sayin id probably have chosen somebody from a group that doesn't feature as many defensive teams as that particular one. I hope you win tho 8)

Btw for the first round i've put my money on a draw in col - gre and the swiss team to beat Ecuador.

I think it'll be an attacking group because its quite even.. No clear underdogs imo, they all could potentially finish top or bottom.. fuck sitting back in that situation.

I'll be eating my words in a few weeks time, no doubt, but I think Argentina and Brazil are massively overrated by the pundits at the moment. Argentinian fans are going to start revoking passports when they realise that Messi's ridiculous talent doesn't automatically osmose into everyone he plays with.

A Busst style broken leg for Ronaldo would be the greatest moment of global bonding since the Berlin Wall came down. You've got one shot for world peace, Americans...

I think 100/1 on Bony's a pretty good bet. I mean, he probably won't do it, but 100/1 is ridiculous. Golden Boot rarely goes to a tournament winner... they tend to be good enough to spread the goals about a bit.

Agree. Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo to disappoint. Messi has never performed that great for Argentina, Portugal are a sack of shit and hes never been able to carry them like Maradona did for an average argie team.
