We're doing well, just dropped an awkward set piece.

I'm happier with that performance than most England victories at the World Cup. Dodgy defending down the left, but great going forward. Positive. They looked like they meant it for once.

Only doubts for me are Joe Hart (should've saved the header) and Rooney... good assist, but he wasn't really in the game. Sterling, Sturridge and Welbeck were good. Good options on the bench... hope's not lost yet.

I feel decent about Uruguay after today, though Suarez is a game changer.

Would've been good to see them make more of an effort following up their passes and playing down the left for a change, but yeah, better than I'd expected tbf.

Sterling was really good today, gotta sort that Rooney positioning issue but you can look confidently to the qualification if Uruguay don't step up their game.

Yeah, Sterling was your best player tonight. Rooney obviously doesn't like that position at all. Was surprised at the way Hodgson set you up didn't think you'd be as attacking as you were, made for a really entertaining match.

Candreva had some game for Italy and Pirlo was, well, Pirlo. That free kick that clipped the bar :o

From the evidence tonight I'm pretty sure you'll pick up enough points to go through if you play as positive as that in your other fixtures.

Thank fuck that's the only 2am kick off. Good game though. Drogba's appearance seemed to shift them from "we'll give this a good shot" to "we're definitely going to win" without even touching the ball. He should be given a city to rule.

The birds are singing and I've barely left my front room since 5pm. Definitely bedtime.
