Mourinho did because he likes defenders to be traditional sit back and be solid. I thought he was alright at CDM, his passings pretty good.. bit hit and miss but he can ping some beautiful long balls down to the wings to get a move going. Hes good at suddenly darting forward too, can dictate the tempo quite well actually.. not something you want from a CB lol.

Hes not the worst CB, playing him CDM meant he got regular games and we can use him as a backup defender. I like players who can play in a number of positions, makes injuries less painful to the squad if other players can play out of position well.

I wouldn't play him ahead of matuidi in midfield though.. just a crazy bit of business selling Sakho cheap and getting Luiz in for 50m.

That game was a bit painful to watch, poor sportsmanship all over the pitch b2b pretty bad reffing.

Actually lol'd at that diving call, out of all the dives in the Cup, might as well pull the card out when it wasnt a dive. Seems a proper vibe for the 3rd place match.

Thought Holland went very very easy on Brazil, especially in the second half. They seemed very content with the 2-0 win. I think Brazil were lucky it wasn't a knockout game en route to the final .

I disagree with the idea that you can't have playmakers in defence.
Passarella, Mattheus, Frank DeBoer, Hierro, etc.

The best defenders in my time have had part of that and on top of that you only really become a great defender later in life than Luiz is now. Silva and Terry are unique in that respect tbh.

And usually they transition from another position aswell and transform that experience to get an edge. That's quite common in general.

With Puyol we had to wait for him to calm down a bit and not run around like a headless chicken. Dessailly too.

With Thuram, he was initially a righback going forward all the time. Same with Maldini or Abidal.

So I'm saying there's an incubation period in becomming a cb and Luiz has only recently entered it, has amazing worldclass ability in some respects and has the same partner on both teams he plays for, who's arguably the best defender the world has ever seen.
Mourinho has fucked up a lot of players and brazil have been under ridiculous pressure and scrutiny and the coach sucks.

Hope theres goals tonight, Argentinas record would suggest there won't be.. unless Germany can get a goal quick and force them to attack.

LIEBE DEUTSCHLAND

Off to Munich in September... with any luck they'll still be celebrating.

Would be ideal, I've bet on Germany win and 4 or more goals so I need Germany to get at least 3.
