Blackdown's "The Roots of Dubstep" project

Big up Blackdown and Ammunition for putting this together. Definitely a good thing that someone's trying to release the tunes that helped dubstep develop to where it is now and many of which are long out of print. I've been trying to get hold of some of the old Horsepower stuff like 'Classic Deluxe' since Skream finished his Stella Sessions show a few weeks ago with some old skool. Hope this all comes off but I'm guessing Blackdown wouldn't have announced it if it weren't near completion. And well done on another excellent column, if you read this, Blackdown.

This sounds absolutely deepers, will be well interested to hear what selections are made. With blackdown and ammunition at the helm im sure it'll be spot on. But Im especially excited about:

"vinyl doublepack featuring two out-of-press classics and two still unreleased anthems"

my fingers are crossed for changes

are you just looking for a twelve of classic deluxe?

Only the album's a pretty good pressing of it, and Action Records in Preston have a copy/copies for a tenner. Plus then you get Gorgon Sound, Rude Boyz and Django's Revenge too.

or direct to the shop here:

edit: oh, and that "Log On (Dub)" that Skream plays at the end of that Stella Sessions too.

this is even better than the history of dubstep mix i've been hoping for for ages.

I think it's incredibly important that this music is available to people who have come to the sound recently.

No future without history.

big up martin.

I would have guessed at the Benga track..sounds like Hatcha needs a new copy judging by the Practice Hours mix!

Been after Red for ages..would still like the Big Apple 12" though..
