hence my curiousity as to how the UK DJs were playing footwork/footwoork inspired dnb in their sets, as besides myself, i haven't really heard anyone in MPLS playing it at nights...
I know, that's exactly what I thought you said. And what I said is that 'footwork inspired dnb' is stil la strictly UK thing. Even if footwork is from Chicago, footwork/dnb crossover music is still UK based. It's a niche market of dnb that doesn't sound a lot like either drum & bass or footwork and won't necessarily find appeal in the Midwest. The dnb that was big in the midwest (mostly darkstep and jungle) doesn't sound like it and footwork dnb won't appeal to footwork fans.

we have a footwork night were there's crossover with the footwork/jungle stuff that goes over well.

rashad's 'let it go' for example.
having spoken with some of the teklife guys they all really seem to like dnb, hence the influence.

i think the kids in mpls who are into footwork are also into dnb (at least those over the age of say 24/25, because that's mostly where their roots are.)

i dont think the footwork stuff is any more niche then anything else is really.

i just think most dnb djs in the midwest are stagnant and unreceptive to new sounds...

yeah I've seemed to notice that about the dnb scene in the cities...ya'll need to bring some fargo blood over there some time. I'll MAKE the fuckers get receptive to some of the awesome dnb out there that never seems to get pushed in MSP!

How is the DnB MC scene over there these days? It's been about a decade since I've been to a show in the cities...every now and then I'll see a show with a good headliner that I wouldn't mind checking out, but I'm always leery that the set will be ruined by constant MC chatter like back in the day...
