Re: SNH Cycling thread
I have Bardet and Pinot, so pretty happy on the fantasy front.
Belkin actually did really well again, disaster time trial of course.. van Avermaet surprised me this tour, same goes for Elmiger and Konig. Honestly Konig shouldn't have been a surprise, but he somehow went under my radar

Most people I know -including myself- stop racing and either go mountain biking
or running in winter. The cold is relentless on the face and knees.

I only stop when the snow sticks, the extremities are hit hardest, wear two gloves and some skii socks
I bought a trainer this time around when the snow hits

Re: SNH Cycling thread
Bought a Marin 2015 Muirwoods 29er the other week:

It's for my daily commute of 22km.
The weather lately has been making me angry. It's almost plus 0 degree celsius in the morning, which would be ideal biking weather. The forecast tells me its going to be like this for another week.
I've already biked the trip once, and the bike is easily the nicest I've ever owned.
Any other city commuters out there itching to get outside this spring?

Looks great kruptah!
Yeah I'm hopefully going to start building in a few weeks. My singlespeed has taken
some hits this winter, both literally and in terms of weather damage. Need a new axle, chain
and sprocket. Going to have it painted while I'm at it.

Running an 80s time trial frame at the moment. 700c back and 650c in the front.
Relentless gearing on it now though, 52x16. Means that at at my fav cadence,
I would roughly be going 25mph. Bit fast for a city bike I reckon.

Re: SNH Cycling thread
Finally getting nice out. I plan to do lots of riding this summer.

Re: SNH Cycling thread
I've been riding since mid-March. Bought a new bike around that time, as I mentioned above.
Positive the shop I bought it from never lubed the chain, and I never bothered to check.
Now I've had to put the bike away until I buy some lube to deal with the squeaky chain.
One question I do have though, is skipping of the chain normal sometimes after changing gears?
I'd hate to take my bike in for a tune up already, but I might just have to in order to ensure a quiet smooth ride.
Wish I was mechanically inclined when it comes to taking care of my ride. Perhaps I should start now.

Re: SNH Cycling thread
What derailleur do you have?
There's basically four reasons for chain skipping:
- Worn chain or sprockets/chainrings
- Bad alignment of chain or derailleur
- Wrong chain or sprockets for shifting
Seeing as you bought it quite recently, it's most likely #2. Assuming chain tension is good.
Even with a dry chain #1 shouldn't have set in by now.
Also make sure that you keep the chain somewhat straight while riding. i.e.
not on the biggest ring in front and back.

Re: SNH Cycling thread
I'm under the assumption it's #2 as well.
Derailleur Rear: Shimano Alivio, 9-Speed
Derailleur Front: Shimano Altus

Re: SNH Cycling thread
Yeah the Alivio is common on new complete bikes. It is not top, but it should do
the job easily on the road. Off to find a bike shop that has tools, but is not run by them.
Should be an easy fix that they can do on the spot.
