guiliani ain't gonna win. no way in hell a pro-choice, former mayor of nyc, who only has 9/11 to prattle on endlessly about (while in NYC everyone hates him, most tellingly the emergency workers who were at ground zero) is gonna win. he cannot carry the south, he cannot carry the anti-choice vote, and he certainly ain't gonna win any converts from the left.
at this point, all of the republican candidates are jokes. none of them thus far has the power to carry enough states to win this thing. of course, i am not so blind to think that the right wing scheme machine doesn't have tricks up its sleeve, but right now the republicans are reeling from all kinds of missteps and fuckups.
hell, i live in a redder than red state, but even i wonder if any repubs in the running could carry even this state. should be interesting.
my personal choices would be (in an ideal world) kucinich, and in this one, john edwards. obama isn't striking me as ballsy enough, clinton strikes me as a consumate politician (smart as fuck, but too in debt to the health"care" industry for me to like her at this point).
oh and p.s. while i too share the cynicism of most of you about voting and the problems with it and the system itself, i guess i have a different perspective. as a woman, i know the history of my sisters fighting for the vote, and fixed/fubar elections or not, i shall not sully the memory of their long and arduous fight by sitting on my ass and not taking advantage of the rights they fought for.

I feel the same way as a minority!I vote as often as possible.Local, county, state, and country.Whenever I can.I know my votes against Bush didn't mean squat, and I knew beore the 2000 election that it most likely wouldn't count, but I still voted.
I think I got lucky with Bill Clinton twice though. My first presidential vote AND I got the person I wanted??It sure left a pretty image in my head of the power of the constituents. Then Bush had to come and fuck it all up!!

yea, probably not gonna vote, no one is capable of becoming president without being in the pockets of groups whose motivations are something other than an actual fair and civil society with concern for future generations and the lives of all current living members.
US looking bad at the moment, money is shit, Federal Reserve aren't even the government, high % of population in jail, upper class control blabla, i left the fuckin place 4 years ago so maybe i'm a bit out of touch with it, but just got no faith in any politician on the national level making decisions based on their knowledge of social/ethical philosophy so no vote

2 False flag terror strikes by our own Gov't (First WTC and OKC Murrah Building were both inside jobs) on his watch, he completely made a fool of himself and his wife when she kept him around...Echo Wanderer wrote:I think I got lucky with Bill Clinton twice though. My first presidential vote AND I got the person I wanted??It sure left a pretty image in my head of the power of the constituents. Then Bush had to come and fuck it all up!!
Kosovo, Iraq( daily bombings, lest we forget...), Somalia, Rowanda...
yea, real good President.
if we wouldn't have lost the congress, we'd never have balanced the budget either. he is part of the war machine... do a youtube search for "CFR controls the media" or click HERE: http://youtube.com/watch?v=JPlvdSQ6cAM AND WATCH!
Who is in Council on Foreign Relations?
Everyone but Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel, Ron Paul... watch that video and tell me you can still support Edwards, Shiva

its fucking sad... a lot of the right dont even like giuliani, but think he can win, a lot of the left dont really like hillary, but think she can win... should be a none of the above vote... theres so much wrong with this shit, its hard to imagine it getting better...selector.dub.u wrote:
that concept is reality. the system is stacked against anyone who is pro peace and pro liberty. it will be either hitlery or mussolini i mean guiliani.
mark my words.
that being said, i still support obama.... although i think kucinich is the only one i've heard say he supports completely recognizing gay marriage.
i will not vote for hillary... although, i dont think the world will be worse with her in office than giuliani...
also weird... this time we've got a woman, a black man, an italian, a mormon, a mexican-american, a vegan, another douche bag actor, and it still doesnt look like anything will change... its like they are tricking us this time into thinking we have choices and are diverse.

Who are your feet voting for? Protests and marches only work if you're holding weapons when you do it. Misk, I dunno if can accept that answer eitherthesynthesist wrote:Voting is a waste of time.
Contributing to the current voting system suggests that you are complying with a corrupt and admittedly worthless and inaccurate system.
I will Vote when I can see that my vote is counted.
Until then I vote with my feet... And my candidate is 'None of the above'.

"There comes a time when silence is BETRAYAL" - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

really I started this thread in hopes that we could debate some of the differences between the candidates. In reality, there isn't ANY difference between Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Rudy, Thompson, et. al.
They are ALL members of the Council on Foreign Relations. I suggest you all consider what that means--they ALL are members of the same organization that has the SAME stated goals...
Do a google search for the following:
RFID chip, National ID cards, North American Union, Amero (this will be the new system of money when they remove our national sovereignty and we become ONE nation with Canada and Mexico... heard of the Super Highways they are building to allow Mexican drivers to take dangerous vehicles with no inspections across the country!!!)
do a google image search for North American Union, Amero...
they already have a flag... they already have a new currency...
Seckle posted a long while back about how long it would take for the UK kru to move stateside because the value of European money has dropped by 75% since the European Union was formed...
do a youtube search of "federal reserve" and watch the videos about devaluing of American currency...
Look at HISTORY about the real reasons we fled England--HINT: it wasn't religion... it was because the British had set up a FEDERAL RESERVE system of FIAT currency and inflated and deflated money, to the detriment of the poor.
Barack Obama is a member of CFR, and so is his WIFE... the ONLY candidates who are NOT a member of the NEW WORLD ORDER(do a search for NWO while you're at it!!!)
in closing... it is truly heartwarming to see so much support for Dennis Kucinich--have you donated to his campaign?(he's raised 300,000 dollars IN TOTAL... so obviously most of you haven't...)
are you a PRIMARY voter? Are you REGISTERED as a DEMOCRATIC voter? Are you a Delegate to the DNC or RNC??? What about the STATE DC or RC??
THAT is how your vote gets counted! You become the person who CASTS the votes... otherwise, your vote WON'T be counted. Become the COUNTER--become a member of the Electoral college... this isn't hard at all, really--just pretend you support a major candidate, or you will have to jump through hoops... if you claim to support Hillary, you'll be EASILY elected as a Delegate... you have to start NOW though, because closed primary states are already ending registration to vote in Primaries... NY and I believe New Hampshire have already closed reg for the primaries... REGISTER, BECOME A DELEGATE, VOTE, COUNT THE VOTES, IGNORE THE HILLARY VOTES AND CAST YOUR ELECTORAL VOTE FOR DENNIS, RON OR MIKE GRAVEL.
Im a memeber of the CFR. I speak there regularly on issues related to China.
I vote and I agree that my vote is personal. Having lived in China for a number of years and known many democracy activists there, I continue to value my right to vote. Perhaps I am a pawn, but I am certainly not apathetic.

Voter apathy and cynicism is giving us the candidates and political system we have. True, the majority of candidates fall into a similar range of political views, but to say we should just not vote to protest is plain dumb in my opinion. Being skeptical of government is important, but outright cynicism is counterproductive. Revolution is NOT coming, so my plan is to vote for the best candidate available that has the best chance to win. At least then maybe things will start slowly getting better rather than spiraling downhill as they have over the last 6 years.
That said, I'm still completely undecided on who should be the next president. It's still way too early to know where people really stand on the issues.

Of course I would support public financing of campaigns to eliminate the fundraising aspect of elections. But even if that happened, if we continue to only have 40% of the people vote, then our democracy becomes almost meaningless. 40% turnout or less to me is a problem of voter apathy. Voting is a civic obligation, imo, regardless of the perceived quality of candidates.
