Sick thread. Hopefully this bump gets people posting in it again.
I just had a quick question: what's really the difference 4x4 garage and house? Are there any really obvious stylistic differences or is it a bit nuanced and comes down to culture more-so?

The early stuff sounds like rave producers doing strict NY garage. Later on it grew into being more localized to London, stylistically.SCope13 wrote:Sick thread. Hopefully this bump gets people posting in it again.

I think the biggggest difference between UK and US is the basslines. Less on a house/disco and more on a jungle tip. But you're basically on point in saying that the distinction is more cultural than musical. It's a different subculture listening to a local variety of house music and adopting the jungle/rave subcultural elements.

I don't think anything from the US sounds like Ripgroove or Gunman or one of those.

I know that this is a place for posting individual tracks, but a lot of what are being posted are included in this mixtape series: https://soundcloud.com/rev/sets/badboy- ... de-mixtape
I bet that you can find more tracks you dig in there - tracklists are included.
