Combination of looking kind of a bit silly plus god awful music does make people wonder if people genuinely like it surely?Phigure wrote:his look is a bit tongue in cheek / intentionally ironic with the durag and turtleneck, otherwise he just seems like a dude making music

nah, music should be judged independently
zomby acts like a fucking clown 24/7, does that mean all his tunes are just "trolling"

You're forgetting the fact that black metal is actually good music that has existed for decades whilst spooky black is one shitty dude existing in a time where terrible ironic tumblr wank like Hannah Diamond is popular with pricks in bucket hats.RKM wrote:wouldn't this be most of the worlds opinion on black metalwolf89 wrote:Combination of looking kind of a bit silly plus god awful music does make people wonder if people genuinely like it surely?Phigure wrote:his look is a bit tongue in cheek / intentionally ironic with the durag and turtleneck, otherwise he just seems like a dude making music

RKM just proved that your equation didn't hold water entirely.
'God' should be an operative word when talking about satans muzak innit.
But you are both right.

Re: is spooky black legit
I get what he was trying to do, the difference is spooky black comes from both a scene and a moment in time where terrible ironic wank is constantly appearing. Black metal was a scene which developed over a long period of time and has become a reconised genre of music world wide to the point you could buy Burzum t shirts in sports direct, lads mags have written articles on it and there are books on its history on display on the way into high street bookstores around here. You'd be a fucking idiot to write the whole thing off as a matter of ironic pisstaking now where as it's so easy for spooky black to appear to be just the next tumblr fuled Nathan Barley "it's not shit because it knows it's shit" act to appear.
Re: is spooky black legit
Yeah!
I think the whole new sincerity concept that came along with hipsterism, was already taken care of or dealt with in the sence of stuff being ironic or anti in the nineties.
I don't think it's unhealthy now though, because it sort of demands critical thinking to a degree.
It's just remarkably unimpressive as a creative facade in general.
At the same time there's serious people like 'stitches' or 'Trinidad James' looking and thinking like they do comming up nowadays, so music or art or whatever gets to have that mysterious akward complexity of being exotic or whatever, still, despite gloBYABlization and tumblr and whatnot.

I think he meant some of the world was already being idiots in that way, in regards to metal. You'd be a fucking idiot to write the whole thing off as a matter of ironic pisstaking
