Massive in Dubstep

What is the point of even trying to make dubstep if you don't have Massive.

These days you will never ever get signed to any sort of major label, and probably no minor labels unless your using Massive for your baselines. And sure, you can make some okay shit with freeware, but your seriously wasting your time unless you want to shell out hundreds of dollars for Massive/Sylenth/Etc. It seems to me the only ways to get signed to a dubstep label is to either buy a shit ton of dubstep loops because you can't make them yourself, or spend all your time trying to make halfway decent bass with halfway decent synths and never get anywhere. Literally every single prominent dubstep producer uses Massive. I just watched 5 hours worth of interviews, and allll there people say they use Massive. IDK what the fuck they got started with, but Datsik sure as hell didn't get where he was with TAL Noisemaker and a bunch of BPB plugins.

That's my take on this shit anyway, if you disagree then help me out by giving me one example of someone who got anywhere without shelling out serious money for plugins. It's more than frustrating to realize that no one can ever make it in music as a teen, unless your parents are rich or they really, really like you or you somehow have a crazy job at 16 and you can sped all your money on software.

I don't see the problem? Massive is widely used because it's a great vsti. You can make a good bass on any number of synths though if you know what you're doing.

For real, in terms of techier producers though, DJ Madd uses moslty TAL Elek7ro for his synths/bass

To be honest, I think that Massive is hands down the best VST synth ever. The interface is awesome, the modulation capabilities are more than most people will ever use - you can modulate almost everything. It's very easy to learn and use, but even after years I'm still playing with it and creating new sounds.

Other synths are ok, but Massive is by far my favourite. It's designed for a computer, whereas some synths try to mimic hardware. I don't have about having a photo of a Moog on my VST synth, and I don't want to have to scan through pages of a mod matrix - Massive's drag and drop interface is ideal. And the macro's are a real time saver.

Plus, most importantly - it's fun to use. Jump in, add a waveform, throw an envelope and lfo on some stuff and you're away. I know a lot of people like synths like Zebra and Absynth, but I find these less welcoming to use as they're a bit more involved.

I'd like to see it updated though - it could do with some better filters and new waveforms imo.

It's between Massive and Synth1 for my fave VSTi. Though I think if I could get my head round FM8 a bit more, then that would be up there too.

I've used Massive, and I've used many other software synthesizers and Vst's as well ( including Sylenth1, FM8, Nexus, etc. ) and I have to say, although getting the desired sick nasty bass sound you want is easier ( in most cases ) with Massive, it isn't BY ANY MEANS impossible to get the same sounds with other synths. It's just ignorant to say that you " can't " make Dubstep or can't get anywhere in the music industry without having Massive in your plugin arsenal.
