Like 90% accurate though. I know a group of white people, every time a black person does something illegal, they're like, there goes those naggers, all savages. A white guy (hmmm... damn, all the examples I'm thinking of the dude was crazy) does something, like shoot up a schoolroom full of first graders, ooooh, that is an isolated incident.
Contradicting that though, is like the beltway sniper (black dude and his kid?), this group of white people were like that dude is crazy, and same for that dude that recently went on that rampage at like the navy yard or something (another black dude), he was crazy on ssri's in their opinion. The flavor of the crime does dictate the perception of the criminal, but white people are totally ready to externalize white criminals and see them as isolated incidents.
Re: Ferguson riots
No: I'm talking about its intended utility by most users in the broadest sense, NOT the specific purpose for which it was built. Again, the vast majority of gun owners will never, ever shoot a person - many won't even wind up shooting an animal. They will shoot a target, and for them, that is what it's for mostly. But whether it's a target, an animal, or a human, they're all things that guns are used to put holes in.ehbrums1 wrote:dont fucking kid yourself, its a weapon and was designed to kill dont tell me its long range hole punch ffs_ronzlo_ wrote:In the most general sense a gun is a power tool designed to put a hole in something from a distance;
The motivation and intention for using such a tool to violently render a hole through - that's the real issue.

Re: Ferguson riots
yes that is one of the issues
but people twisting the reality of what guns actually are, why they were invented, their purpose, thats another huge issue, especially in usa

Nobody goes around saying "Bandsaws! YES! So much fun for the whole family!" - like I said earlier, a big part of the problem is our cultural perception of them as instruments of righteous vindication and explosive vengeance... the macho factor. All of the stuff they tell you not to do in gun safety classes, essentially. And you have Hollywood dipshits backing gun control measures but still appearing in movies where they're "taking out" the "bad guys" with flying double sideways gangsta pistol shootouts - the hypocrisy is just insane. It's like our entire society has the mentality of a 12 year old boy.

@ BeanyFroobs:
Oh, wow, an isolated incident of stupidity, let's take everyone's rights away! I'm with you benny, and let's apply the same paradigm to everything! Let's start with rock climbing, what do you say?
My 9 yo daughter just shot her first 9mm the other day. Amazingly, WE ALL LIVED THROUGH IT! I don't know how, but we escaped through the jaws of death!

Rock climbing doesn't hurt other people. Shooting people in the face does hurt people. Not a fair comparison at all.

Yes, when their parents consented to send them to school in a free fire zone.

Re: Ferguson riots
So you think we need to arm elementary school teachers? Just have everyone live armed to the teeth?
And what about the college students in Isla Vista?

Absolutely, definitely, unequivocally, it should be done tomorrow, fucket, tonight.jags wrote:So you think we need to arm elementary school teachers?
I don't think you should put a gun in your mouth. You conservatives really don't know about guns.jags wrote:Just have everyone live armed to the teeth?

But yes, it is a shame that people have the ability to harm other people. So long as people have the ability to harm me and my loved ones, I will have the means of defense. This is just one of those things, you don't want the world to be this way, but you deal with the world as best as you can. Wishing to live in a fairy bubble is, like, for bronies. I understand it, but I have to live in the real world. I'm an adult, and a man.
They assumed the risk for walking out of the house (and staying in their house). There are risks in the world. Don't forget that the supreme gentleman stabbed three people, and hit another with his car. You unequivocally accept that as a risk people have to take.jags wrote:And what about the college students in Isla Vista?
There is risk in the world. I lived in an iffy area, I was on the receiving end of a drive by. I also was on the receiving end of a big crazy dude high on pcp with a 12 inch filthy butcher's knife. Taking my father-in-law to the hospital one night, two dudes tried to mug me, this was about a half block from where a student at my school was beaten and raped in a parking lot. I was recently in an isolated county park hiking with my daughter and some freako came out of nowhere and began to initiate some type of physical confrontation and then just walked away. I backpack where there are bears as big as your car, but instead of tires the bears have long powerful arms with gnarly curled claws.
There is risk everywhere. We evaluate and choose to accept or avoid risk. We use tools to mitigate risk, you can use a seat belt in your car, or a helmet on your bike. One tool that greatly mitigates all of the above actual risks faced by me is a firearm. I want to reduce the chance that I will be the victim of someone else's violence.
Of course, if I did defend myself, I'd have little bitch asses blaming me for my own self defense, suggesting that I smashed my own head into the concrete and that I broke my own nose.
But I'm trying to mitigate that risk right now.
Re: Ferguson riots
man i am so thankful you are not the president of any country let alone the US lol
Re: Ferguson riots
Ironically enough, if I was the president of the US, I'd probably be capped by day three.
