DZD2 - BRAZEN BULL

Post by dzd2 » Sun Aug 31, 2014 11:04 pm

Usually I don't make hard tunes. But this one might be the toughest thing I wrote. I guess sitting at home with a shattered leg gets to me and this is the only way to blow off some steam.

rest assured it's NOT brostep ;p

definitely hard, i think it might be out of key with the intro, but then again i could be wrong, fucking experimental as shit, love the vibes, the snare drum isnt my favorite, but thats only my opinion, keep it if you like it that way, or it could be processed a little different, other than that, keep it up man!

Cheers!
The intro sounds a bit out of key due to the processing (stretching, chorus, reverb etc.) I did on the strings, but I kind of like it this way, personal preference I guess. I used this snare because I didn't want to go with the typical bigvbrick wall snares that are commonly used in harder tracks. The main drive is in the kicks/lead pattern that's why I kept the snare like this.
My only worries are in the sub region, on some hifi systems the sub didn't have enough presence in the 70-90hz area.

I'm currently not able to work in my home studio on my monitors due to a broken leg, so all this is done on headphones while imitating a potato on my couch. I'm kinda surprised with the positive feedback ;p

Wow. I like the entire tone of this track. I don't think it is hard per say.. more so it sounds like you are really trying to work out some dark and angry thoughts. The pounding bass line gets monotonous but I think it works in this case because it captures the emotion of being stuck and getting angry at being stuck.

good concept. I like the snare when you put the delay on it. Plus the cool 8bit sound percs. I would bring the kicks out a little more. And check your mixdowns on some of your sounds. Other than that I do like the track.
Th?nk Dubstep - Got some big releases coming soon.

The whole track needs a proper mix down on monitors, I've done all this on my Technics DJ Headphones which is far from ideal, but since I'm condemned to the couch I had to find a way to keep myself busy making music. I hope I will be able to work in the studio in a few weeks.
Cheers!

i wasnt the biggest fan of the a section, just felt like that main synth could be eq'd a bit more carefully, but the b section really caught me by surprise! totally loved that part.
