Mixdown/Mastering on this track?

Post by TheHiddenProducer » Wed Sep 17, 2014 4:13 am

Soundcloud

Can someone tell me why this is the loudest I can get my track? Without anything on my master channel, my track peaks at -6db. This is the loudest I can push the mix without clipping. Also I was wondering how to make my track louder.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

probably better off in dubs board
but that doesnt make sense- it should be able to hit 0db before clipping.. have you tried putting a limiter on it til it hits 0db?

Because it needs mastering, export it and import it again on a track and add Izotope Ozone 5 for the mastering process.

Here's a guide on how to master your tracks:

Oh guys, what I meant was that I can't get it any louder without clipping AFTER putting a limiter and compressor during mastering. I was experimenting and I was able to make it sound louder but I had to sacrifice some low end in order to do so. Is that even a proper technique? Shelfing the lower end slightly in order to push the limiter a bit more?

basically one part of the frequency spectrum is louder than the rest, making everything else not having headroom, if you were to turn down your sub a bit and turn the highs up a bit, itll make the track seem louder
