I'm listening to Jamie XX's - Beat For and i'm loving the way the voice sample switches tone/pitch how can this be achieved this in FL studio? I know there's a way if you press on the 'Mouse 3' to change the pitch... but that's permanent...
If you're not interested in the tune, skip a head to 1:30 for the sample.

Automation envelope on the sample pitch.

sorry pal but this is bullshit. just automating the pitch of the vocal does not do the trick because the vocal in this track is all the time on tune. if you change the actual pitch it will go out of tune obviouslywub wrote:Automation envelope on the sample pitch.
what u need is a plugin that can automate the formants of the clip. that's how u achieve the "pitching yet not pitching" sound found in this track. i know this because i posted a thread about this exact same thing some time ago.. i'll find it for u if i can be arsed
yep here it is

I've seen a tutorial (burial, not jamie xx) on vocals which do a similar thing (More or less). This might help, though there are probably better ways out there
