its just something i cant get past, and its why i aint no film head i guess. i just know its all acting. and imo they didnt really get how to make things flow back then, didnt feel very real.
theatre is the worse thing ever for this imo btw. the cringe levels are just unreal, most pain ive ever been in is when my mom/aunties dragged me to productions in landan. i think this is why i hate a lot of those old black and white movies cus they remind me of plays

I don't mean to sound like a total dick saying this, but are you sure you haven't just been watching utter waste?

Like there's plenty shitty older movies. He could be watching the equivalent to the brainless not at all believable mainstream pap we have now just from 70 years ago rather than what is considered to be important moments in cinematic history or some of the films made back then with more of an edge to them.

Wow really ? The Grapes of Wrath ? On The Waterfront ? Sunset Bvd ? I mean granted, a lot of B&W movies aged like milk, but some of them are the real definition of timeless. And there's a certain appeal to watching films with less post-prod/effects value than today's movies: You can put your focus on the acting, the writing, the camerawork... What actually matters in a film.
I still think the cab scene in On The Waterfront wouldn't have happened if they had today's technology in 1954, and I still think it's one of the greatest pieces of acting ever. Everything is flawless

Shane Meadows almost makes up for it. And every actor in both american and british television is from the uk at the moment. Like Martin Freeman playing a minesota guy in fargo or every other guy in the wire...
Kubric wasn't cryo frozen but apart from that it is still pretty healthy imo. ..
After 15 hours watching the extended cuts of Lord of the Rings goddamn Jackson did such a job. The trilogy should be counted as one, it is up there with Refn for cinematography .
