producer, dj, head of Tectonic records and Cold records, been there since the very early days of dubstep, you need to do some history homework mate

apologies if that sounds a bit rude but yeah he is very well regarded in the scene

that's not at all what I'm saying man, I just mean Pinch is a pretty important figure in the history of dubstep and is worth investigating further, I realise that my wording probably came across as a bit rude though

Well you're not being rude it's just i don't think it is required for you to know that, sure he's a big part of the history of dubstep but I just wanted to enjoy the genre and its music, So I wouldn't know about the history behind it.

It helps to know some of the producers who founded the genre though, helps you to know the music in sense

I would argue you can't understand anything without knowing the historical context in which said thing was conceived and grew up.

wow its almost like a small group of people made similar music w/ little experience but it sounded so much different than everything else that the production value mattered very little at the time

& looking back at it these are actually amateur tunes & not the masterpieces as their widely viewed as today by youtube commentor fanboys

just playing

but yea if you dont know who pinch is wtf bro

i love this genre of music but fuck actually learning about it

im just going to go on a forum about it lololol
every Tuesday 11pm EST on http://cosmicsound.club

uuggh man. I don't like brostep that much but I don;'hate it, I don't care much about the genre either. Well Idk who pinch is but I do now have an idea who he is coz of you guys. But my only point is I don't need to know everything about him just so I can appreciate dubstep. Just as much some of us doesn't know much about the world but we're still enjoying it.

So how come you joined the forum?

Not in a bad way but if you weren't that fussed with the genre outside of listening to some tunes why join a forum dedicated to said genre

Because I'm curious about it. I'm not letting down any knowledge that I get in this forum though don't get me wrong there. I started looking up pinch when you guys brought it up. I didn't even hate the fact that you guys are weird out that I didn't know him. Just cut me some slack

Famous dubstep pioneer, had genre formative releases on Hotflush and runs his own Chestplate label. My favourite release of his is still 'Empire' on Hotflush.

Agreed, I don't really why people get put out of shape when someone doesn't know the history and roots of all music they're interested in. Pinch is worth looking into if you got the time, formative releases on Planet Mu and his own Tectonic and Earwax labels have a great back catalogue, well worth checking out.
