Naw, that's a friendly punch on the arm.
I might wave my knife around later if anyone wants a fight. Tell M8son I'll bring my 5 Panel.

I have already fired several shots though. You are literally bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Oh shit, that was you firing shots? My bad.
Here, have a cup of ebola.
You just brought a gun to an ebola fight.

Guns for show, knives for a pro.

not reading any of this because im a hippie
but recent bit I heard on public radio was that asphalt is pretty useful as part in a process very similar to solar powering but with a heavier yield. So having roads wont be a problem but could instead power for example the cars driving on top of them.

I'll be accused of false optimism, I'm sure, but I still find it very hard to believe that a species that has survived the climate change, natural disasters and plagues that ours has in the past 200,000 years would actually let itself go extinct. We're survivors... even if it meant another 100,000 years of hunter/gathering, we'd keep on fucking.
Can we add this as an auto-reply to rickyarbino posts please?

That sounds like a lot of potential survivors to major catastrophe to me. It only takes two to restart things and we've got 3.5 billion chances.

Re: Solar power
Nah, 'cause we're stnuc who obsess about living when we're dying anyway, which makes the future a harder place to live. We can't keep this up forever. Perhaps that's just opinion though.

Re: Solar power
Pretty sure it's all opinion when you're trying to predict a hypothetical future.
All I'm saying is that humans have been through an awful lot. I think people mistake the end of civilisation for extinction, tbh... civilisation is always a precarious thing. Civilisation has only been here for less than 5% of the human species, though - and our species has been through almost everything the Earth's climate can throw at it. It is far stronger and more intelligent than a lot of people give it credit for. That's why we're here and all the other bipedal primates are extinct.
We're pretty fucking neat, man.

Re: Solar power
I see what you're saying but if we won't ever stop being able to die, and since there's always going to be cause for someone to die, what would be the point of us being the animals that continued to exist?magma wrote:Pretty sure it's all opinion when you're trying to predict a hypothetical future.

It's a bit peak if you think about it, "we're special because we killed everyone else"? Like I'm just a killing machine, I don't really see it.
Extinction's just a part of it all.

There's a big difference between killing and out-surviving.rickyarbino wrote:I see what you're saying but if we won't ever stop being able to die, and since there's always going to be cause for someone to die, what would be the point of us being the animals that continued to exist?magma wrote:Pretty sure it's all opinion when you're trying to predict a hypothetical future.

Extinction's just a part of it all.
For example, there's no real evidence that we exterminated Neanderthal man (a larger and more intelligent animal than us) - it's just as likely that they died out because they needed more nutrition than they could gather in an ice age. We were more efficient and banded together in larger groups, so we survived.
There isn't any "point" to any species evolving, surviving or going extinct, but that's a very different conversation.
Individuals can some ten million ways to die... but as I said, survival of the species only takes TWO to find a reason to live.

Re: Solar power
Not in the sence that the asphalt is a component and that the money is already spent on it. So it's cost efficient because of exactly that. It would mean that the people that do the asphalting could have their job evolve into something even more useful aswell. I think an equivalent (that doesn't exactly exist yet) would be like magnet trains -so it's on top of being sort of green, much safer than regular road travel - because you could power down the cars from a far in a monitoring situation..rickyarbino wrote:Maintenance there seems pretty difficult and costly, do you remember if they discussed that?hubb wrote:not reading any of this because im a hippie
