Need help finding a film

Post by test_recordings » Thu Nov 13, 2014 4:35 am

I teach in a school and need two films to show my classes, one's for [edit] 15 year-olds and the other's for 16 year-olds.

They have a good level of English but need simple language (I'm going to put English subtitles on as well). The 15 year-olds, action stuff would be best. The 16 year-olds, I was thinking of the Matrix or something.

Suggestions?

More for when you've decided, I suggest watching through and paying attention to every word of the films and making sure they know, or could at least infer, their meanings.

Play them that Tokyo Drift film, might be funny watching the mixture of cringe and inspiration across their faces.

Actually, you could probably just answer any questions that come up.

Test, did you ever teach in the UK?

I taught in the UK but not schools. Almost everything else though: kids, their parents, refugees, asylum seekers, economic migrants, students, graduate students, and so on.

My current kids are Japanese junior and senior high school boys, they don't really ask questions unfortunately. I could give them a little worksheet at the end but they probably wouldn't do it so I'll just save the trees I think and ask myself...

I watched that last week, my sister told me it was about how children used to get sucked into the sex industry in the 50s or something.
Made it so much harder to watch some of the scenes that already made me uncomfortable since I was a likkle yoot.

Why would I go to the lengths of making my own interpretation if hers makes so much sense? I mean there are parts where it deviates from that but it's a kid's movie at the end of the day.

Also, apparently Miyazaki discussed this in an interview. I didn't, and can't be bothered to, look that up though.
