yes but I lack the funds to do what I could've done with a regular night. the club pays us to set up one night a month, and with the second one it would've been the same. no money out of my pocket. in return, the club gets all the profits aswell.chekov wrote:that sucks jerkhands
are there any 'private party' spaces you could use instead?

Man when I lived there I was gonna go to that thing like 3 times but god decided against me by first giving me hardcore sickness when kode9 was there then putting history IGCSE next day when it was pinch and peverelist

I was actually there at both those nights.
promotionwise, they're mainly focusing on their two sporadical techno nights "BOLD" (international guests) and "BOLDINI" (locals). Marius (new.com) is working with a vocalist and two other guys on a live dub/techno thing called "Comfortnoise Ploy" which is wicked, and Guy (guyus) is happily djing all over switzerland; mostly techno and house, I think, but he played a wicked jungle set when we had Om Unit and still plays dubstep aswell. really versatile guys, both of them, with very impressive record collections. (well, new.com ran his own record shop, go figure...)
they set up a (one-off?) "dubexmachina" a couple of months back, but I was in croatia so couldn't attend.

That was a big night! First time I had seen a large amount of females at a dubstep night as wellHarkat wrote: it was pinch and peverelist
Bit annoying to not be able to go in December.
To get to do nights with someone elses money would be so good. I love all the organising and shit, we just dont have the funds to do really "big" stuff, like would love to be able to get Rabit over, to have been able to put on the Soundman Chronicles night , epoch/sully/etc jungle clash, Livity sounds night and so on.
Nope weve got about 500 total after rentals and even Mr Mitch and Dark0 want £500 a pop
Re: The things that pissed you off today ™ thread
you were there? wow. how did we not meet? with juan? 100% chance we spoke that night.
make no mistake though, our budget is tight. and we don't make losses.

it confuses me tbh, because it's not like they're gonna bring in £1000s.

Re: The things that pissed you off today ™ thread
how much is an average british dubstep / bass "star" dj's fee? in the realm of kahn and the sorts

Re: The things that pissed you off today ™ thread
Isn't Kahn a bit above average?

After talking to a few friends/promoters that have booked Kahn, they all said he is really expensive. Obviously its different in the states, but even relative to other 'comparable' acts.
Re: The things that pissed you off today ™ thread
i can see that, his name on a flyer is definitely more of a draw than most dubstep acts

We've not spoken to him because Bristol adds accom but I would presume around £6-700 depending on Neek or not.
Some people its £150-200, others it goes up to 700.
As riddles said, those guys would not (IMO) bring in 65+ people to cover that kind of cash but a lot of it is trying their and your luck.
A lot of nights that have mad line ups, I have to wonder how they function, like with 5-6 guys all big in small venue put on by outside promoters rather than "m8 rates" for label nights
