Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
in defence of those lot, as a part of young echo they're putting on the best night in bristol, and it's on a thursday, i've never heard such a wide variety of music with such a nice vibe.
the bob marley pulse x mashup is pretty funny i thought tbh imo lmao

That's what made it weirder for me. They're usually so on point with their ethos and their music.abs wrote:in defence of those lot, as a part of young echo they're putting on the best night in bristol, and it's on a thursday, i've never heard such a wide variety of music with such a nice vibe.

Fuck off. They were shit compared to Joy Division let alone a full 20 years of music.AxeD wrote:Forum wrote:ehbes wrote:New Order is the best band of the 80s-90s

you can't you really call joy division an 80s band if curtis died in may 1980wolf89 wrote:Fuck off. They were shit compared to Joy Division let alone a full 20 years of music.AxeD wrote:Forum wrote:ehbes wrote:New Order is the best band of the 80s-90s

Yeah Ehbes.. you can't really pick 1 band that's the best of the 80s and 90s.
Although I'd say it's harder to pick one from just the 70s.

Point was new order is just the remainder of Joy Division being largely kind of shitsoronery wrote:you can't you really call joy division an 80s band if curtis died in may 1980wolf89 wrote:Fuck off. Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
Despite my best efforts to try and change my own mind over the years, I agree with this. Apart from the occasional unmitigated triumph (Blue Monday...) and the fact that Peter Hook was fucking Caroline Aherne for a bit in the 90s, New Order are nothing compared to Joy Division.wolf89 wrote:Point was new order is just the remainder of Joy Division being largely kind of shitsoronery wrote:you can't you really call joy division an 80s band if curtis died in may 1980wolf89 wrote:

The ability to decide on a best band covering 2 entire decades only suggests ehbs hasn't listened to enough music from the 80s and 90s yet.

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
Lots of bands are nothing compared to Joy Division, but they're still good. Are New Order not different enough that they should be judged on their own merits? I rate em.
Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
Bands that come from the ashes of other bands are always going to be compared unfairly, I guess... I'm sure the Foo Fighters have made the odd good record, but you can't see their name without reminding yourself how shit they are compared to Nirvana.

Re: Post your unpopular opinions.
last sunday we threw a little afterparty in my mate's studio until 11am and we were just playing shit off youtube and getting higher by the minute. Blue Monday smashed it. but so did I Was Made For Loving You and Beds Are Burning.

it's a really good release aswell, which definitely helps. I imagine ultraspatial could quite like it. possibly Harkat?Laser-cut Album Released
In some alternate universe, where laser cutters and phonographs are more common than MP3 players, it makes a ton of sense to release laser-cutter files for your band’s new album (Translated). In this universe, it’s wacky and awesome.
The new EP from ASIC, alias [Patric] from Fablab Zürich, is out as PDF before it’s out in other forms of digital download, and the trailer video (embedded below the break) looks fantastic.
The release draws on this Instructable by Amanda Ghassaei to turn the music into PDFs suitable for feeding into a laser cutter, and we think it’s classy that she gets a shout-out on the label’s release page. Everything else about the album will be released under a Creative Commons license to boot.
Burning a record is a tough test of your laser printer’s settings and calibration, and [Patric] is still working on optimizing for his Epilog 75 Watt Laser cutter. He promises to post up details as soon as he gets it perfected. Of course, you could just wait a week for the record release like a normal person, but where’s the fun in that? Fire up your lasers.
Thanks to Richard for the tip!

monkey wrench is a big tune still
potentially minor threat/fugazi for best 80s band in my eyes, maybe meat puppets
i find with bands from that era there's usually a couple albums from them that i think are the absolute shit more than loving their whole careers/upping them to decade definining status

I have been waiting and waiting since rigamortis and detox and a few other original nunu tunes ...because of the notion that he has what it would take to take all of mainstream rap into new territory, and actually make it interesting.
He's not homophobic, he's not from a specific area that defines his sound or his beats, he's open to influence, technically brilliant, akward/charming (like a tumblr
Examplified a bunch of times, but mostly when he did that shit non-battle battle diss track or when he welcomed dre as an executive producer.
All of this is what most people have rightfully rejected fifty cent off of, but behind all of that there's two great artists.
