Dreamstep 1

Post by rachMiel » Wed Dec 10, 2014 2:49 am

Hi everyone, dubstep newbie(ish) here.

I'm working on creating what I've been calling dreamstep tunes: gooey complex ungridded oceans of dubstep passages (often ripped/modded from early Burial tunes) with a coherent simple beat and bassline underneath.

Any helpful comments on the arrangement, production, mix/mastering are welcome. Thanks!

It sounds nice, look forward to hearing more developed stuff! Maybe make a little trancey (not specifically like the genre), repetitive and morphing

Thanks for the listen. :-)

I did a remix, changed the balance a bit, made the beat a bit more dubby and complex and morphing.

To hear the remix, just click on the SoundCloud thingie above.

Guilty as charged.

Which probably explains why, even when I'm attempting (sort of) to do something within a conventional genre like dubstep, it sounds ... peculiar.

I don't want to let go of that peculiar ... but I would like to find the sweet spot where I can remain true to my soundworld AND make stuff that appeals to lovers of dubstep.

Any help from you dubstep pros to get me there would be groovey. :-)

Thanks for the listens, guys.

"Very interesting" ... hmm ... this seems to be my fate as a producer!

I truly wish I could make things that people thought sounded great, cool, whatever.

I guess it's the downside of being hooked on thwarting everything I touch. ;-)

sound design on the pads and more melodic elements is lush

id say the kick needs more prescene though its got that wet cardboard muffled vibe going on
