You're almost 23 and you still aren't remembering to study ahead of time? As far as you could know, your computer's always about to break down.

clouds only good for saving nudes, solid as a rock that thing

on topic; been thinking past few days, im not sure i've been to a rave in months that i actually felt really hyped by the music, semi connected to the fact that i've rinsed dubstep and grime for myself and those are the genres that have ever really moved me on the dancefloor

kind of a depressing thought since i've been out plenty this term

Been on the same vibe the past year.

Like I go out and have a good time with friends, meeting new people, music is decent etc etc

But its been a really long time since I've gone home with that hype feeling from the music.

^ Time to mebbe give that stuff a short break and explore or try to find something else that tickles yer ear. It's good for you - when you get back to it, grime/dubstep will regain some of its freshness [for you.] That's just my experience tho. It can even be something you were previously into, doesn't matter.

Fully agreed. The problem for me is that, I actually still really enjoy dubstep/garage/grime. Most of San Francisco apparently does not. We get a ton of great techno acts coming through and those are fun, but I just never have as much fun partying to techno; such a different vibe.

That being said, I went from going out 1 or 2 times a week, to maybe once or twice a month now. So even the more lackluster parties are still quite fun.

and don't get me wrong there were still a few standout nights over the last year; not complaining really.

i think this is true (and always has been) for all of the US tbh. my techno friends have two nights a week without exception that they rave about.

is this also true in england? was dubstep ever like the biggest thing there? or when people talk about how dubstep's "not popular" anymore, do they mean in relation to how popular it once was (which was always less popular than house/techno)?

Yeah, I dont think dubstep has ever been the biggest thing anywhere really..

Just saying, there used to be several weekly dubstep nights here that were pretty solid. Now, there is probably a decent dubstep night once every month or two (at most).

We still have a usually proper weekly DnB party, but its on Sundays.

there are 2 main dubstep nights in my area. one i've noticed is having events less often and at smaller soundsystems ($$$ issues I think).

the other has weekly events but it's not always dubstep, just "deep" music. sometimes jam bands, sometimes like trip hop and shit, i think they may even do disco but i just go to the dubstep ones.

literally no dnb i'm aware of unless it's like the odd night but not like a regular thing.

actually, now that i think about it, there is a "UKG" (never know if that's supposed to mean garage, or grime, or both) night like every 1-2 weeks that i should really go to. none of my friends ever want to go though. i can usually get a good crew together for the dubstep nights but not so much with grime or garage. might have to go it alone 8)

Yeah our old 'main' night, went from weekly, to monthly, to "1 off" type nights, to nowhere. Just couldn't keep it going because of cash flow. I would not be where I am today without those nights tho, had some of the best times of my life and eye opening nights of music there. When they were going weekly, I went almost every week for like 2 years.

Our other night, sounds similar to that second night there, they play mainly "glitch" and various 'deep' stuff that's not actually very deep at all, but they bring in some good dubstep acts every few months.

Dre from Truth sometimes throws a night when people are touring, good music, shit venue and vibes tho haha. Tiny room and everyone stands at the outer edge and chin scratches and act cool because they know what rinsed out dungeon tune is playing  Kahn and Commodo came through one of those nights tho and I had a blast, def a standout night of 14 for me.

Really just need to reach back to LDN, Berlin, and Outlook again. Hopefully in 2015/16.

Not saying it was all rainbows and unicorns here in the Bay dubstep-wise, but for a long time we were pretty spoiled I guess
