Well.. isn't it using sine wave as a sub is the usual?
Idk where are we going anymore, but my point was that it's funny how people are selective of when are you copying someone (again using growls/other brosteppish sounds) and when are you not (sine subs, breaks, 808s, all different charasterics of underground dubstep).

it used to be influenced by garage, but now it's influenced by electronic metal, which is like 180° the other direction

Who said I didn't think it was subjective? Just agree that saying something like music, which is subjective, is bad doesn't make sense since it's the extent to which a track is good or bad that we judge when we listen to it and decide whether or not we like it.

hi ema
lol
tbh there's so little quality control, and many consumers of dubs have such low standards that as long as there's 130bpm beats to take drugs to, 90% of the 'scene' don't really give a shit about the actual music. you see it all the time, even in this thread, people coming out with "nar bruv it's all good" blah blah blah, but when was the last time something happened in dub that strays away from the tired template that everything fits these days?

maybe standards are lower if you weren't there for the real innovation through the 90's and early 00's. i know how patronising that sounds btw, but it's the only explanation i can think of.

there's still some great stuff around, but you have to dig so deep to find it that unless you're completely immersed in what's happening it can be hard to find, and never reaches the 'mainstream' that so badly needs it.

but the bottom line is that 'mainstream' dub these days is populated and controlled by some horrible stnuc that are doing as fucking terrible job of representing dub bass as a serious genre.

further to that if anyone ever complains about the general quality of the music, all you get back is "dig deeper dig deeper" which granted means you can still find good music, but its still worrying how you have to stray so far off the mainstream to actually find some real quality. it didnt ever used to be like this which someone has mentioned. it only seems to be getting worse in this respect.

i think the reason why people arnt despairing all over 130 is because theres still little pockets of music and nights that satisfy the sound they want to hear, so in their mind 130 is still good. it just seems a little blinkered to me. in response to threads like this you get "what about artists like..." and then they reel off a list of good, but massively unrepresented artists. quality and mainstream 130 exposure dont seem to go hand in hand any more. where are the Etch, Logos and Mr Mitch of the up and coming artists? with all due respect to the new generation, there are artists of that quality, but no one whos even a fraction as big as those artists used to be.. and im not even talking outside 130 / 5 panel
you generally have to go to smaller nights and look at smaller labels if you want to hear the good stuff.. and it seems to be harder and harder to do.
