next Gen synth?

Post by Banesy » Thu Jan 01, 2015 3:59 pm

So I have Massive and FM8 down pretty well and I am thinking about learning a new synth to help diversify the sounds that I can crank out. Massive and FM8 seem pretty overused so I am looking for a next generation kind of synth. What is out there that will be the next big synth that dominates for many years to come?

This. I've not even got through all the included synths or the user library yet.

PureData?

U-he Bazille looks pretty interesting as well.

Also don't forget you can setup your DAW to act like a modular environment. What happens when you start routing multiple instances FM8 and Massive together?

Thanks everyone. I knew Serum existed but haven't looked into it that much.

Everyone's all about Reaktor and I'm sure it's dope, but you should honestly look into Spectrasonics Omnisphere. So many great samples/sounds and it doesn't sound so generic like Massive does. I'd recommend pirating it since it's so pricey, but that's just me :corndance:

I don't know about reaktor. I think you need to know a whole lot more than it is suggested to get usable sound out of it. Its stock oscillators and filters sound just horrible, and imo, are useful only for the lowest level academic synth design.
