Sciatica - Dabs (Dubstep/Riddim)

Post by sciaticamusic » Thu Jan 08, 2015 8:28 pm

Not sure if anyone here has ever watched Redband on youtube or not but I sampled a few of his vids in this song. It's weed themed as you can probably tell by the name of the song lol.

I'm liking the mix. Very lovely low end and I really like the lead sound. Very nice use of ambient chords in the background too. Well crafted tune. The drum programming is quite intricate too and that's not very evident from first listen so well done! Only criticism is the 'massive' sounding bass line is a bit dated by now but that's just a personal preference. Nice tune!

Thanks a lot man! I've been putting a lot of effort into my drum programming so that means a lot, and yea I need to start migrating to other synths more than just Massive.

My opinion-

the awesomeness: Dude, wtf do you use for your drums?! The drums are SOOO tight. Mixdown so BA and nice chords and transitions and dang and those vocal shots xD

the :i: :this might just be my taste (I'm a Datsik/Pegboard Nerds/Skrux/The Beatles type of guy), but the metallic bass sound turns me off ):

Thanks for the feedback man! I just found some nice sounding hat and percussion samples and arranged them right on the grid in Logic.
