Re: studio headphones
Went for the Focal Spirit Pro's in the end and have been really impressed with them. Haven't used any other studio quality headphones so I have no real point of reference. However, I have been noticing wee things in tracks I've listened to countless times before but never picked up. Also when I've been producing on monitors for a couple of hours and switch to the headphones there is a noticeable increase in clarity, particularly the high end.

Yeah those cans are top notch man. I could only straight compare them to my 770's.High_Plains_Drifter wrote:Went for the Focal Spirit Pro's in the end and have been really impressed with them. Way more detail in the Focal's. The CMS series loudspeakers are very good too.

Re: studio headphones
I have owned the HD650s and the ATH-M50s, and I own a pair of DT770 Pros (250ohm). Hands down the HD650s are the best, followed by the 770s. The M50s are uncomfortable for long periods of time, are coloured and are all around worse monitors - much better suited to DJing than production.High_Plains_Drifter wrote:Sorry to bump an old thread but it saves making a new one to ask virtually the same question.
Looking to buy a pair of studio monitoring headphones. Have narrowed it down to Sennheiser HD650's, Beyerdynamic DT880's or Audio-Technica ATH-M50. Thought I would ask here before making an investment as you'll likely be using them for the same purposes.
Budget is a maximum of £250 ($400).
Cheers anyone who can help!

Re: studio headphones
The HD650s are great
But if you can look at something instead of headphones like speakers for your pc I would recommend KRK Rokit series speakers
You could get a nice pair of Rokit 5s used online for a really nice price. I just bought a pair of KRK Rokit 8 G3s for $280 and they were out of box but in perfect condition never used before
Good luck brother
