Sekkleman ft Serocee & Baptiste - Lightman [MS018 - 12"]

Happy New Year!

Soundcloud

Sekkleman is an alias of Australian producer Erin McKimm, one that marks his exploration of dub. Born and bred in Melbourne, Australia’s cultural hub, he has been deeply influenced by the music subculture that thrives in the city. In particular, the sound system culture has been pivotal to Sekkleman’s evolution, from its sonic depth and conscious gatherings, all of which have connected with his psyche and triggered his journey into the depths of bass and space.
Prior to Sekkleman, he produced and performed as Livewire, focusing on jungle and dancehall. This included releasing tracks on the cult jungle label Big Cat Records and remixing reggae artist Tanya Stevens amongst others. As a selector he has supported artists such as The Bug and Warrior Queen and Remarc and played at some of Melbourne’s more intimate and renowned jungle parties.
Baptiste began his odyssey as a vocalist in 1999, performing in Europe with a variety of artists. His first vinyl appearance was on Kanka’s 2001 album Hammerbass, which launched Baptiste into a new level of recognition with radio plays in his home country France, and throughout Europe. He has supported the likes of Lee Scratch Perry, Mad Professor, Asian Dub Foundation, Iration Steppas and Zion Train. Since moving to Australia, Baptiste has been instrumental in forging global ties in dub music culture. He is currently a member of Skankstarz, a collective of international musicians, performers, artists and producers based in Byron Bay.
London-based Serocee was catapulted into his musical career upon the 2006 release of his debut single ‘Life’. Since then, Serocee has collaborated with Radio 1 DJ Toddla T, reggae pioneers including Spragga Benz, General Levy and Lloyd Brown as well as UK hip hop veterans Ty, Roots Manuva and Seanie T.
Serocee is prolific in his contribution to UK club music culture, both as a DJ, producer and vocalist. He has been a regular on the festival and club event circuit, and has toured with the likes of Busta Rhymes, The Roots and Public Enemy.
2014 sees them join forces on an exciting debut release for Moonshine Recordings. Supported by the ones of Radikal Guru, AxH, DJ Madd and Compa to name a few.
