Hard challenge

Post by Redoken » Thu Jan 22, 2015 11:54 am

Ok I heard someting really weird, I'm talking about this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0jLwnQiG0w#t=83

It sounds kinda different to me, I mean there's too much talk here so I tought about seamlessr's work with vocodex as starting point and in particular this one:

Any suggestion? Do you agree when I say that It's not achievable with classic processing?

Seeing as it is Adair and Omegamode who are under Disrobe. I would say it's OmegaMode's use of Effector - Vox and modulation/automating that. I'm friends with will and he has said that he uses effector :D it's actually really useful and it's definitely worth a try!

Too be honest I think it is a very talky low pitched Yoi bass (maybe out of fm8) with just a lot of vowels.

Try to make a talky (growl) bass in fm8 saying "yoi" maybe trough Formant Eq´s, record that pitch shift that down and get crazy with it.

For the fx I would recommend: OTT (compression), EQ (ofc.), ass load of (mostly) Dry phasers, and Vocodex at the end (just to make it weed) for the Vocodex you dont need a modulator so just let the init sound be the carryer and the modulator at the same time. What also works great (if you cant get it talky enough) record what you already have and then record your self saying things (yoi yoi yoi for example :D ) and Vocode the recorded sample of your Growl with the sample of your voice (try to play with the pitch but just on the sample of your voice, pitching the init sound dosent work so well at least for me)

I hope you can understand me :corndance: that is at least what I would do to achive the sound I have no idea if I am even close but I think you could archive that sound without yousing Vocoding (at least in the way it is supposed to be used)

e: Syrant is actually right sounds a lot like Effectors vox to me now that I think about it :6:
they kill people ?

Omega posted an FM8 patch in the growl thread...I would track that down as a starting point.

I can see a lot of download link in that thread but none of them works.
Anyway I'm still not sure about using that kind of approach.

Crap I've never used that thing that's what I got :corntard:

http://www23.zippyshare.com/v/ND7qUZUh/file.html

I used those formant tables

http://www.classes.cs.uchicago.edu/arch ... able3.html

I set just the first three formants of I -> O from the bass section, some effector and more.
Thanks guys I think that's the way but I'll probably do some experiment with the stuff in the seamlessr's video :h:
