How to send music to a label?

Post by ChadDub » Thu Jan 22, 2015 6:00 pm

I want to see if I can catch any traction with my music and so I want to get my music on some youtube channels/labels to get some people to hear my music... I know some people here have experience with that sort of thing and I wanna know how I should send my music to them.

Take AllTrapMusic for example, should I just email them with a link to my track on SC or what? Would like some advice from guys with experience plz thnx.

make sure you're making good music

pick label that has a similar sound to what you're making

send them a private link to a track that isn't available publicly

as why would they be interested in something that is already available to everyone

make sure tune is mastered and mixed to a level where it could be played out if need be and not sound out of place

make sure track is downloadable

sit and wait for feedback

maybe send follow up message after a week

but don't harass them

or just start your own promotion channel and promote the hell out of it

create original content regularly

and build your own profile that way

Can't really speak to labels but as far as YouTube Channels go, make sure what you're making is in line with the channel, and also (if you don't already) have your own youtube channel with some of your stuff so that you have a presence there already. No youtube channel or label wants to be completely responsible for your presence on a platform. Also this is kind of a no-brainer but be a subscriber of their channel, no one wants to support someone who isn't willing to supporting them.

U wanna write a little bit about yourself and why you are sending it too. Don't just send them a link to sc cos it will just get ignored

From my experience, sending music to labels doesn't really get you very far unless it's a pretty small label. Most labels tend to get a bunch of emails, messages, and downloads from many different artists; and the majority of the time they don't go through all of them.

So, most decent sized labels probably won't look at my music, what do you do to get your music out there? Blogs, mixes, and promotional channels are the best way to go about getting your music out there. Most labels follow blogs, because most of the time they send their latest ep demo to blogs so they can promote it. Mixes are also great because if a producer plays out one of your tunes and nobody has heard of you before, they will most likely ask what's this tune, where can I find it, etc, if a track list is not available of course. Promotional channels also help get your name out there if your music really stands out.

Getting your name out there as an artist isn't something easy to do, it takes alot of hard work and many hours spent honing your craft, and improving it. Some producers come up faster than others, but in the end it's talent that will stand out, so if you consistently produce good music, get it played in mixes, blogged about, and promoted you will be good to go!

I sent an email to a trap music channel about 5 days ago haven't heard back. Either my music sucks or they didn't bother with my email lol. I might send another one in a couple days.

Well my 2 cents are:

Write who you are! Why you make music! What move your Life forward! Why should this label believe in your work, what can you contribute to the label to grow together. At the end of the day getting in a label it's like getting in a family and you can't get in just by posting a song and saying: hi this is xyz here's my song.....
