Begotten??? Really?
That movie is wholly unwatchable. That gurgling noise throughout is just awful
Its like a film before the time where humans where conscious enough to see life as a movie, or through the eyes of the observer. its observing the unobservant playing the parts of the theatre of creation/existence. I love it though it is wholly dark and is saved for certain times.

American History X is a straight up bad movie too

The whole arch of him reading books and getting a black mate so now he's enlightened and non racist is laughable. As is the izan gang. Just cartoons man. It makes hand-wave references to interesting discussions but it's so simple. Also the

Parallels of "getting a black mate so now he's enlightened" has happened though, so it's not entirely unrealistic. Each to their own I guess, but I thought it was good, and does about as much as you can with the "horrors of racism" angle as you can in under 2 hours, I reckon.

Also, the original ending was meant to see Edward Norton's character go back to the racist gang after his brother gets merked by the black kid, would've been a good ending imo.

a sick ending would have been to turn the whole thing into a full on action/revenge movie after the rape scene and just have one of those 15-20 fight scenes w/ edward norton's character vs the white power bros

salo
altered states
fargo
the guard

troma movies (poultrygeist, the toxic avenger, surf sizan must die etc) or shite like plan 9 from outer space, killer klowns from outer space etc are fucking sick but idk if i'd say they're among my favourites

i want to like begotten more than i actually do
in the same boat with kenneth anger's films (scorpio rising, lucifer rising etc)

South Park movie
Airplane 2 (dunno about this one, only seen it once and I haven't seen the original so I can't remember)

Actually thinking about it I can barely remember what films I've seen

I love both There Will Be Blood and Mulholland Dr but they explore similar territory to Citizen Kane and Persona respectively so wanted to get some variation in there.
