frequency analyzer questions

So i use SPAN to help me visually. I was messing around with adding sub to a baseline. I wanted to check the accuracy of it so I played F1 through massive and ableton. Through span it was reading the very highest point of the peak was at G2. When I push F0, the very tip of the peak is at A1. Not worried about the difference in number….just the difference in note. Am I using SPAN wrong when I go to the very tip of the peak to read its note. F is very close, its just not the peak of it. Just trying to figure out which part I'm doing wrong. or since I'm pushing F in massive and Ableton, then it is for sure an F and the very peak doesn't necessarily mean that is its note? thanks

yeah man idk just ignore it and what ever sounds good to you is the right way to go

it probably depend of the size of the windows used by SPAN for the computation of the FFT , if your windows is short like 256 samples, the time will have a good accuracy, if your windows is really large like 2048 samples you will have a nice representation of your frequency but they will be spread over the time. I don't have that VST, but you can probably change the size in the settings

Yeah, as animalmystic said, it's just based on the number of bins, if you have frequencies between where the fft has resolution to measure, it's just giving you the closest value it can round to. Your F is still an F, don't worry
