Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
In bed, falling asleep, wanted to watch a video of a DSI Tempest, got my ear buds, and attempted to plug the minijack into my ear.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
some interesting discussion over the last few pages, don't have anything to add tho, guess i"m sitting on the fence on that make music for yourself vs make music for others thing and what it implies as far as going back to rework on old tracks, so i sort of agree with everything thats being said to a level or another, but i digress
large up the newcomers too, welcome to the club
now for the (late) feedback:
@ronzlo: some really interesting sound design, although there are some of those clicks, not sure if they are voluntary or not, that sound to me like unwanted sonic artifacts (like the ones at the very beginning)... also i agree with Bud on your sub, there's something off with it in the context of that mixdown, not sure i can point out what... maybe its a bit too muffled, like they should bleed some more higher harmonics maybe... idk, like you completely nailed that harsh (but pleasurable) emptyset sound(check out "demiurge" if you're not already familiar with their work) on the higher part of the spectrum, but not quite on the lower end
@Bud: Am Beat: is this one blanc or you alone? really liking this in any case. feels like there should be more going on though, like it sounds a bit empty and the minimalism really doesnt work here? great work on the vocals too. also its not that i dislike the arpeggio like synth, but i feel it would benefit from having some other element as a counterpoint?
kaltar: agree with Damnson on the snares, they sound a bit too "in your face" for a track like this one imo, really liking the rest though, sounds to me like you found a right balance between burial's earlier stuff and the latest stuff (which i'm overall not that fond of tbh). also it could use some work on the structuring, maybe add a few more subtle elements, incidentals, like you have your meat and veggies, need to put the spices in
@knobgoblin: nice noisy piece. liking the strings-like pad in the back too. it feels like your kicks should be more boomy and weighty (not sure, maybe its just my headphones).also think Damnson makes a good point on the snares, i see how they can be a tad too harsh at higher volume. also i think you could break it up a little at times, maybe mute or lowpass the beats for a section, stuff like that to make it more interesting and give it a sense of progression, as it is it just feels like one big block, just my 2p
@danny, sorry it seems like you removed the track? i had a listen earlier this week and remember i was positively impressed, you gotta leave the track up until the end of the week man, it aint over til the fat lady sings
@Damnson: dat sample in the beginning! really liking it, i feel like you should use bits of it, like as stabs or incidentals, later in the track. also i feel like the overall mix could be a little less squeaky clean. not too sure about your snares too for the same reason, like i'd suggest layering them with some foley sounds or something to give it more character? probably personal taste, but the distorted 80's sexiness of the intro sample got me craving for something raw and the rest doesn't deliver to me on that front. not sure if that makes sense? also i feel stupid asking but what was your dsf name before the big name change? i can't remember if you're a tuna newcomer or if you used to participate under a different handle?
@nowaysj: so i thought that the realities of adult life had slowly turned you insane (in a good way
) over time but no, you were already like that 20 years ago. really interesting listen, it's completely all over the place, but somehow it sorta works. (slightly off-topic but i feel compelled to ask: you ever been into breakcore, like the US midwest late 90's/early 00's scene a la stunt rock?)
on the plus side, your mixdowns have really improved since then
now i wish i still had the shitty ejay mashups teenager me was doing at the time to laugh at myself

I was called sinestepper looool. I have done a couple of tunas. Thanks for yh feedback, I was actually thinking about ditching the sample altogether cos it doesnt rly fit haha.
Edit:
Might use the trapdoor sample again though and make a tune of it now that I've sliced it up

Really like your idm stylings. First thing I listened to once I got my speakers and pc up was a Moguri track. Sounded so good at volume.

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Sorry for my link not working, I did a big SoundCloud revamp using a new account for a new direction I'm headed. Working on tune number 4 for that project as we speak and hopefully I'll have it or some WIP of it up for the deadline!

I took the soundcloud down yesterday, so everything should have been fine up until that point. Here's the new one for anyone interested: https://soundcloud.com/realdannyfloydnowaysj wrote:Good shit!

Re: TUNA! LIVES FOREVER
Only 1 thing stopping me now. I've got to find a 50 foot cat-5 cable, then I'll internet to my pc, and I can finally listen to TUNA!!!
I can't wait!!! Hearing you guys talk about this and that song... builds up the suspense.
