Can route the samples through the poly architecture, filter, vca's. Can treat it like another osc, a sub osc, or just more texture. This sounds really interesting, as well as just to get a 12 bit for crunchy drum duty.
I would want an S-950 just for the 12bit on drums. How much are they going for these days? I'm still keeping my S-5000, it's just not installed in my studio anymore.
edit:
Gosh, those things are huge!!

Yeah, huge, like cinderblock! Always wanted one of those 12 bit, but I know myself, if there is a fiddly interface, I'm prolly just gonna leave it in my day to day practice. Chopping and naming on those little buttons was a PITA back then, but now, knowing how fast it could be, it is truly painful. But using it as another oscillator, and a fucking wild 12bit but jacked oscillator through analog circuitry... I would be down for that. Just grab single cycles, have a set of legit waveforms, but also just grab cycles from random samples... shit man, I'm like insane desirous right now.

says I can use any of these samplers: S-612, S-700, X-7000, S-900 and S-950. I think it was originally supposed to go with a s-612, but they kept up with that 13 pin din on subsequent models. Crazy thing is that cable is still available, it is some part used in marine radios or something
Can't wait to make marine radio techno/hip hop hybrid beats.
