was thinking about this saturday night @ dubwar. even if i'm not crazy about a tune, wouldn't rock it on the ipod/etc, chances are there's still a place for it in a DJ set that i haven't though of-- and could take the night or the set in other places.
like i enjoy, but am not crazy about, 'system.' i've never played it out. drew it out yesterday to mix, and then found myself drawing for different records than i thought i would... ear-opener, shall we say.
Really, rather than cataloging what you don't like, open up to new things.
and seriously dude-- go outside and maybe listen to some nick drake or something.

To be honest it can be quite nice to know that you're not the only person in the whole world who isn't feeling a particular tune.Thump Rat wrote:Yeah, but atleast those threads actually push positivity, they are pointless, but atleast they are nice
I'm all in favour of positivity and try to push things I like rather than slating things I don't like, particularly when it comes to newer or less well known producers, but I'd rather hear people say what they actually think in a respectful way than have some enforced positivity where you can't get an interesting discussion because anyone who breaks the consensus gets called a hater.

I don't think there are many (any?) dubstep tunes I'd complain about in the right context.

well said. It's like when someone said they thought Mary Anne Hobbs said some weird shit at the start of the Kode9 Burial mix, and peeps jumped all over him as if he had drawn a picture of mohammed or something. It was only an opinion.Slothrop wrote:To be honest it can be quite nice to know that you're not the only person in the whole world who isn't feeling a particular tune.Thump Rat wrote:Yeah, but atleast those threads actually push positivity, they are pointless, but atleast they are nice

There's a lot of stuff that I'm off and on about. I think there's stuff that's too minimal for my tastes and I think there's stuff that's too hectic for my tastes.
CBA to remember tune names though as I'm normally behind on tons of shit and focus mainly on the up and coming folks that I've become acquainted with.
