^Ditto, been thinking of switching to Reaper from FL.

How are we all heading down the same path?!

Well we are kind of self selecting, we're in the gear thread! And fl doesn't work that great with hardware or even controllers.

Their stance on controllers is redic. I counted, I think I have 7 midi controllers or inputs, and in fl you can't lock a controller to an instrument, all 7 of them go to whatever instrument you click on.

It is maddening. And frankly retarded. I've gotten into arguments with Gol for years about this. That dude is always like that idea is stupid, and that can't be done, then 2 versions later, oh wow my stupid idea can somehow be done and is heralded as an improvement. But this thing with the controllers... Maddening, and it has been many many versions. I think it might be too deep in the code. So frustrating if you're trying to work with someone, and they're on a controller playing a vst synth and you click on another instrument and they get switched to the other instrument. I cannot tell you how many jams have been ruined. :(

Anyway. Gotta calm down. Getting heated.

Its so stupid it doesn't even make sense. The daw is clearly designed for one user and one master keyboard controller that follows you around. For that it is really efficient. When I'm in other apps, like live I always forget when I'm switching around instruments to bring my controller with me.

The MicroBrute is a cool little synth. I just had a two hour jam session with the cv gate out controlling the Volca Beats. So everytime I would push a key, the drum machine would start playing. Once I got the timing right, I got some really groovy jams coming out of these machines.

Feel free to hit record on some things. Would love to hear some of the sounds. I'll do the same. Get a little of the Bass, and the ax60.

Will try to soon. I'm at the kitchen table, which is also my desk. I have the MicroBrute plugged into a Crate keyboard amp and playing the internal speakers on the Beats. I haven't plugged these in to my "regular" studio and don't know when I will. Maybe I will hit record on a tape deck... Or my MiniDisc recorder. I kind of want a Zoom H4 or something now.

Oh and had a jam with my lady the other night in the livingroom, ipad and kp3+, had a mic into the kp3+ and all into the stereo. Just so nice making music outside of the studio. Like this studio I'm setting up, it is all industrial, work work work, but we know the best jams are like on the couch, at the kitchen table.

I was seriously scanning the room, looking in the corners and empty places, like could I get all that gear up here?

Would be such a different vibe. I think I'm gonna get a sofa for the studio at least, to just step back and listen and chill, maybe pull the 404 over and work on some beats...

Most of the stuff, I personally enjoy, that I've made has been outside the studio. (not much gear, but a peng desk with some hardware bits n bobs, two monitors, prim and proper; everything set up very 'feng shui')

I end up writing my favorite tunes on my 2007 macbook with a half broken screen, wobbly headphone out port, and track pad in some crummy bar with shitty music blaring in the background and mix the tunes down on the train ride home.

Okay gear heads. I've got bad news for one of the camps here.

The Volca Series (based upon my limited experience with the Bass) BLOWS ARTURIA ANALOG OUT OF THE WATER.
[+] Spoiler
It's incomparable dudes. The volca bass, yeah, looks like 303, can sound like 303 - it's a bloody fucking MINIMOOG.

Definitely getting the keys dude.

I knew these things were impressive, but dude. No clue how good they really are.

I think anybody with ANY interest in otb or analog production/music making should get these. And probably all 3.

It's a minimoog, dude.

Serious respect to Korg. They are making my dreams a reality. That's serious.

That's pretty high praise for a Volca Bass.

I still won't be selling my MicroBrute anytime soon. But now I'm curious about Volca Bass. As I promised you the BoC style synth from the MicroBrute, can we hear some Moog-ish patches from your Volca Bass?

Those recordings from me are forth coming from me, will have loads of studio time this weekend.

No, but you can get some BOC stuff from me.

Am working on it right now. Daughter's Science Fair today, so am jetting in 5 minutes, but I've got my midi laid out, now I need 4 hands to do the performance of this...

Gonna have to refer to the midi spec. Usually on a synth that has a MIDI OUT (HELLO BASTARDS ;-) ) I just tweak a knob, automate last parameter, very easy to map instruments... This, I'm going to have to figure out which CC's they used. Otherwise, really it is a 4 hand affair. Maybe I can get my daughter down here to rock the cutoff eg int and the lfo int.

At science fair, this kid built a sub woofer, sound arts live!

See if I can get a snap of this thing.

Dude, cyclo, I've literally been fantasizing about such a system, using support shafts to release pressure on the pot... Etc etc!
