Re: What are you reading?
Re-reading David Brin's Uplift Saga. Just as good as it ever was. Even noticed a few bits in the first book that I missed the first 4 times I've read it.

better off reading commentary (and/or the Ray Monk bio that popped up in this thread earlier) rather than the Tractatus itself.mason666 wrote:wikipedia wrote:Wittgenstein concluded that the Tractatus had resolved all philosophical problemswill check it out

With a few reading keys the tractatus is not so hard. You just need to understand how his goddamned aphorism classification works and remember he tried to teach ducks how to talk, so he was probably a bit autistic.Shum wrote:better off reading commentary (and/or the Ray Monk bio that popped up in this thread earlier) rather than the Tractatus itself.mason666 wrote:wikipedia wrote:Wittgenstein concluded that the Tractatus had resolved all philosophical problemswill check it out
Been reading this lately

Quick, easy and useful for those who worry too much. Also a nice introduction to stoicism for the people who don't want to jump into Seneca and Zeno right away.

Related to stoicism to some extent, but with the glad tidings idea that you find in Nietzsche. I don't know how well it was translated to english but as far as style and language go it's one of the best french books I've ever read

Just finished Stephen Hawkings Brief History of Time. Really interesting, the last few chapters I started to lose a bit of interest.. I think it was a bit out of my depth. I'm surprised its so short as well, really digestible for people who haven't really studied physics at a higher level.
Going back to finish off The Duty Of Genius now, stopped reading to get through Stephen Hawkings book.

Reading The Shining at the moment. Really cool but also interesting to see some of the fairly drastic changes Kubrick made in adopting it

Re: What are you reading?
re-read a couple of books from the Belgariad and Mallorean series by David Eddings recently, i grew up reading them and I find I enjoy them just the same now. I don't think any other fantasy novels are as witty or humorous as those series, well worth a read if anyones into their fantasy stuff.
