Look for an FX patch/chain called "surf guitar" and you're 2/3 of the way there. It's a common tone in rock from the 60's onwards.

First of all they have pretty expensive guitars and amplification, to get their quality you need a descent home studio, those kind of bands record in studio worst 300.000$ minimum.
Then it is just metal distortion ^^

To my understanding, guitars are one of the hardest things to "replace" with software. Nothing beats the real guitarist, and from what I've read, even people like Pendulum who were like 90% software, still used mostly real amps instead of software amps because the sound is different. Considering how their arrangements usually have tons of stuff layered on the top of each other, I can imagine that getting realistic sounding guitar tones with software would be even harder with more minimalistic track.
EDIT: To help you with your problem, my best results on synthesizing guitars have come from making clean plucky guitar-esque sounds in Sculpture in Logic and making them more gritty and electric-sounding with Pedalboard.

I also tried to synthetize electric guitars using sylenth1 and guitar rig and they're ok not really like a real guitar but very close IMHO.
One thing i can suggest you is to take care of the detuning of the osc and to maybe create an automation for the filter cutoff (a BP or a LP) and its resonance that will react with the guitar rig distorsion ,or of any other plugin that you want to use !

Processing acoustic guitar samples is another thing:
Dry acoustic guitar playing some chords:
Soundcloud
+ "Hi-Drive" pedal from Pedalboard.
Soundcloud
+ 2 EQs, overdrive, more EQ and slight compression.
Soundcloud
+ More EQ, some tremolo and de-esser.
Soundcloud
...And playing along with some other stuff (100% mono-tin-can, not mixed or even checked on monitors)
