Help making fat/heavy trap horns?

Post by slayit » Wed Mar 18, 2015 5:22 pm

Does anyone know how to create fat or heavy sounding trap horns used in drops? Someone once told me it has to do with saw waves but I just can't get it because i'm horrible at sound design. can someone help?
My perfect example is this song at 1:22

Find a brass ensemble sample. Pit it in a sampler and pitch it down til u get the right sound. Maybe add a little distortion. That's how I did it in reason once.

D-shines trapaholic sample pack and you;re good to go!

Just kidding, find a brass sample and play with, pitching it down octaves, adjusting attack and decay times. That sound you shown also does have high ends on it that does sound like a synth, so he probably layered it up with high end distorted saws to make it big and wideSoundcloud
