25 is a little too late to decide you want to become a big time dj or producer. Hell... 18 is too late.

Re: The Fedora/Cringe thread
lol yeah. altho for mainstream or sorta mainstream stuff the average age of achieving success seems to be like late teens/early 20s. but i think that has more to do with the market than everything else. noone wants to see a 30 something yo singing about teen shit
as for bands, if you haven't achieved some form of success by the time you're 20 something, it's probably better to start focusing on other things as well before "real life" kicks in, specially cause it's more expensive to tour, record etc as a band. obvs there are exceptions but few and far between imo
it's a bit different for electronic music tho cause it's a bit more faceless. regardless of what scene probably - steve aoki got big quite late, tho he achieved success as a label head before that. cosmin trg got his first dubstep release in his late 20 as wel iirc
most people start out early cause they're more enthusiastic about shit in their teen years + more free time

No or yesultraspatial wrote: noone wants to see a 30 something yo singing about teen shit

I think it's the other way around. Everybody wants to do teen stuff.. or like the stuff teens are allowed to do is what the other groups are now striving for. In like 'the grand social dynamic scheme' . . . not that that makes a lot of sense outside of saying this..
And although you are spot on! in what you are saying in the rest of your post. It still smells a bit like fascism

Maybe I'm taking midlife crisis a few years in advance but I really dont agree to believe in it, though I might agree not unconsciously or subconsciously.. but like through being mildly 'traumatised' by the way society represents that opinion.

Re: The Fedora/Cringe thread
well not saying you can't or shouldn't. just that you're chances of achieving success doing it are going to get smaller the more you age. this should be seen as separate from being successful from a relatively young age and keeping at since til you're like 70 - fuck dinosaur bands like that tho
and let's be honest it is a bit cringey seeing some middle age bro being down with the kids - like that dude from lmfao who's like 40

Re: The Fedora/Cringe thread
You can make electronica and do it any age there's a lot of people in the house scene who 40+ and they make good music. But if your 35 and you want to become a trap star and live the EDM life that's just cringe. Get a fucking job bro. Half of the people at edm shows are under 20 anyway so...and being 40+ trying to hang with kids is creepy.
Re: The Fedora/Cringe thread

Dunno about the whole thing of getting somewhere with bands while young thing Ultra. Swans' first album came out when Gira was 29 and it was one of the most brutal records at the time (still is really). Since then they have released a shitload of records that are amazing and are still together as a band. Not to mention his other bands and his record label he's been running since his late 30s. Dude is in his 60s and isn't just cashing in on old material either the way loads of bands do when they get old and start becoming dad rock
Re: The Fedora/Cringe thread

You guys all should probably just give it up once you hit 26. There's nothing after that really...
