Pick a tone/angle and stick with it.. this movie is all over the place. I'm by no means an
expert on directing movies, but so isn't Dan Gilroy Quite certain it's not an editing issue.
The sociopathic mind of the main character saves the plot, but it's also what makes it less
convincing as a satire.

Aside from the Top Gear stuff, the imagery is beautiful and I always enjoy
Gyllenhaal's acting. The second half of the movie made up for the first.

I think it works as a satire because it shows how that world of media works so well for someone like him. It's not a cop out at the cost of the satire IMO.

Him being a sociopath is a bit convenient when the point is how asocial media in a way has become. Totally agree. Still pretty good stuff.

Okay, yeah I can see that. I was approaching it from another pov. He'd do the same
thing even if there was any sense of moral left in that world, because of his disorder.
But, the way you explain it works.

A Most Violent Year
Unbroken
both pretty good. I'm rating Jack O Connells acting, Unbroken being the second film I've seen him in after Starred Up. Both performances stood out for me so hope to see a lot more of him in the future.
